Is there an IRC Chatroom for Kings fans?...

I've seen a lot of sites do this - they usually have a java client that can access whatever IRC server/chatroom people are in. It makes it a lot easier for those that aren't familiar with IRC.

Prior to the server crash of over two years ago this site also had a java link to a client so you could go directly to the chat.

It was either the crash or an upgrade that took it away and it never came back.

The link is gone, but the chat room is still there.

It's a moderated channel, because we've had troll problems, but if you just want to go there and hang out when a game's not on, PM me, and I'll tell you what you need to do in order to be able to do that.

i used to be able to create a backpack java client. That was years ago when i was IRCOP on webnet. weird how things come back around.

Couldn't we create a java-based chat room within the kingsfans.com website?

I think the general feeling among most who frequent the IRC chat room is that it's fine just the way it is...

;)

If we had a java script, we might get more people at game time, and other times; let's face it, there are a lot of people that just don't want to bother with mIRC, whether they be too lazy, or they just don't feel comfortable using mIRC. At the same time, the channel is still working, java script or not, so I certainly wouldn't want to Jeremy to feel rushed to drop whatever he's doing and install one.

He'll get around to it when he gets around to it... if he gets around to it. And, if not? The chat room's still there; people will come, or they won't. Frankly, even though I would like to see a script for purely selfish reasons, if people here really wanted to come to our chat room and chat with other Kings Fans, they won't let having to use mIRC stop them.

AOL instant msgner has a excellent chat room option built into their program. it can be setup quickly and closed down quickly.

AOL is not an option cause I am sure not everyone has it... What the orig topic is about is the option to hop in a chat room at anytime.

I will say both Joomla (which is the program on the front page) and vBulliten both have chat module options. Would be fairly easy to impliment, just an install through the admin screen and there it is.

That said, I would not use it unless people were on at 3 in the morning.

not everybody has IRC either. i personally don't like IRC, there are too many ppl on that program that like to send viruses and do other malicious stuff.

that is a good option there.

mIRC is free though...
Also, we could set up the IRC channel to be invite only... so the trolls could be filtered out..
