Oh... my...

This is one of those threads you know was created just to see how much **** could be stirred up.

I'm very glad you can play on an injured ankle the next day and I'm sure your agent, your trainer, your teammates and everybody else who counts on you being totally healthy in your job is greatly relieved, too.
I"m sure you and Kevin have a lot in common. I, for one, am so glad to know we have an NBA player posting here on an occasional basis.

EDIT: I've added a poll (public) so we can get a real idea of just how many posters share your opinion...

Yeah he has to worry about his career.

Also to say "well I can play on a sprained ankle so he can too" is ignorant because there are different types of ankle sprains. You just roll your ankle and call it an ankle sprain. Kevin has a severe sprain, where he's stretched the ligaments and he has some fluid in his ankle. He already played on it before and it just made it worse. If he continues to play on it before it's healed he'll have looseness and loss of power in that ankle.

We don't know how bad the ankle sprain is. I have an ankle sprain right now, between a grade 2 and 3, and I have to rehab it for 6 more weeks. The one P4P is talking about is just a simple ankle sprain where you don't damage your ligaments or tendons. That's a grade 1 ankle sprain. In a grade 2 ankle sprain the ligaments have been stretched and may be partially torn, there is looseness and lack of strength in the joint, and you can have a build up of fluid in there. It takes about 4-6 weeks to heal. In a grade 3 ankle sprain you have torn the ligaments completely and possibly tendons, takes 3-4+ months to heal. In a 2 you may need physical therapy/rehab and in a 3 you will probably need surgery+rehab on it obviously.

Kevin's is probably between a 1 and a 2 since he's been out for 2 weeks or so now. But if he hadn't played on it and injured it more vs GSW he would probably be back by now. You can make these things worse and it'd be irresponsible for the rest of his season and career to start playing on something that has fluid in it, is still painful, and doesn't have full strength in.

It's ignorant to say that he's a little weakling because he's not playing on something that is still injured. He doesn't want to end up like Grant Hill did dude.

Lead by example and toughen up, Kev. I've had the same injury and trust me, it's not something that keeps you out for that long. For me, 1 or 2 days max, but I can usually play on it the next day.

...And you play 40 minutes a night against the best players in the world too?

Capt: I'm disappointed that BOTH of my parents are 6ft and over, so are my sister and brothers, but I fell "short" of 6ft being only 5"9.

What a shame! :D

There's always hope though - when I stopped growing I was an inch shorter than my dad, but I'm an inch taller than him now! And gaining!

He's INJURED. Its not like when Artest had "sore knees" and would bow out of a game 10 minutes before tipoff. Give kevin a frickin' break!! WHY would you want him to come back early when he could aggravate the injury?

NBA contracts are worth millions. And Kevin just re-signed. Why would you not want to protect a valuable commodity?

I am sorry if you'll get offended, but putting the blame on Martin just doesn't make any sense at all because of the many reasons already mentioned above. I think it is moronic to even have entertained that notion.

But of course, I understand your frustration as a result of the many losses we've incurred because Martin ( and so did Miller too ) had missed so many games. I myself believe that we have a complete playoff team. If we just had the important pieces ( Miller, Hawes, Thompson, Martin, Udrih, plus Greene, Salmons, Garcia, and Brown ) all healthy and playing together from day one of this season, they probably could have developed the identity and chemistry that the team needs to win more games now.

And you are right. After 12 games into the season, and now Martin and Garcia are about to be inserted into the rotation again, the Kings are almost like starting at square one again.
:(

.

BINGO! That right there ladies and gentlemen is what has frustrated me more than anything.

What pisses me off is the fans of others teams constantly saying..." WE GOT THIS ONE TONIGHT! EASY WIN! OVER BY HALF TIME!"...and they we play them crazy hard and lose it in the final seconds, so i don't even get to brag to them. Hey, the Sac Bee says Garcia might play tonight!!! WHOOPEE!!

i hope this is just a ploy to develope the young guys so that when he gets back, they will have more experience for later in the season. this is an injury that teams put on the reports at the end of the year to rest players before playoffs. his injury is bs. real players play hurt. any other all star would have been playing a week ago, but thats when i remember that kevin martin is not an all star

And how do you know what his injury is all about?

I cannot believe the shark mentality of some fans lately. Is it really necessary to go into attack mode against one of our own players, someone who has already exceeded most people's expectations and is a bright spot when you look back over the last couple of years?

I'm going to stop now before I subject myself to being issued an infraction by one of the other moderators.

It's rebuilding, folks. You wanted it; you've got it. Now suck it up and take the lumps.

You have obviously never had a legit ankle sprain, or you wouldn't be acting like a kid.

I bet he hasnt either. Every ankle injury is different. I ran high hurdles in high school (back in the day) and sprained my ankle, while tearing ligaments. I was out 6 weeks and had to wear an air cast and was supposed to use crutches but didnt use them. Then, I sprained it again later that year in hoops when I came down on someone's foot, but I was good to go the next day. You just never know with ankle sprains. A lot depends on the moment it happens and keeping the swelling down too.
