Contra Costa Times - Forward Ike Diogu, the Warriors' top draft pick, broke his left ring finger Sunday, the team announced.

He sustained the injury during an extra practice Sunday. The rookies held a mini-session after the main practice at Kahuku High School on the island of Oahu. The three draft picks -- Diogu, Monta Ellis and Chris Taft -- and four of the five training camp invitees -- Aaron Miles, Ray Young, Deji Akindele and Justin Davis -- went over plays and ran a full-court, three-on-three drill.

Diogu, selected No. 9 overall, was going up for a basket when he was stripped by Young. He writhed in pain after the play as executive vice president Chris Mullin and general manager Rod Higgins looked on.

Diogu was attended to while the drill continued. His ring finger was taped to his pinkie and he continued playing. Diogu said he was fine afterward.

During a later examination it was learned he broke the fourth metacarpal on his left hand. He will be re-evaluated when the team returns to Oakland on Thursday. How long he'll be out will be determined then.

That would really suck if it puts him out more than 1 month. Ike's one of the steals of the draft, and will have a very good RY and career in NBA. Loved him in college last season.

diogu is gonna be a good nba player.... i too thought he was a steal
