If we don't re sign Dalembert?

Grant has taken a few calls on Dalembert today. He seems pretty convinced he is gone. Says he wants to play somewhere else, Sac is not on his wish list .. wants to win now. Gives Kings about a 20% chance to keep him.

Obviously Grant is wrong more than he is right, but this is how a lot of people feel unfortunetly.

So here is my list, in no order, of a few names (realistic ones!) I wouldnt mind picking up. Some for the third big spot, some for the fourth.

Joel Pryzbilla
Nazr Mohammed
Kenyon Martin
Low Amundson
DeAndre Jordan
Brandan Wright
Kris Humphries
Kyrylo Fesenko

Then Guys that we could trade for..
Marcus Camby
Brook Lopez
Anderson Varajao
Josh Smith

Pryz is a hangnail from retirement.

Its been rumored that Robin Lopez is being shopped. Not quite Dalembert, but you could always start Thompson with Cousins and let Lopez back up Cousins. Lopez, like Dalembert isn't much of an offensive player, but he is a good defender and rebounder.

Eww to R-Lo.

Dude's rebounding and shotblocking numbers make Landry look like Big Ben Wallace. Any big who looks like crap playing next to Nash, is going to look like stinkier crap elsewhere.

Though Chandler and Gasol would be great backup plans if Dally leaves, I think that both those guys are pie in the sky options. Not too likely to end up rockin the purple.

I'm on the DeAndre Jordan wagon. Wish we traded for him last offseason as he ended that year strong. I think he resigns with the Clippers though. Supposedly he's Griffin's BFF, and I imagine he probably likes playing in LA. Money talks though so we'll see.

Hopefully Dally doesnt jerk us around all summer, just to bail after everyone else is snatched up (a la Bonzi Wells, not that that worked out Well(s) for Bonzi!). Petrie needs to start going after him now. Overpay (frontloaded) if necessary.

What really makes our bigman situation tough, is nobody has a clue of when Whiteside can/will contribute. That might be the worst part of no summer league.

I would love to see Daly back, but let him go if you have to pay a huge amount to get him to stay and/or he doesn't really want to stay. For 10-11 million a year you better at least be able to catch the ball. :p
Yeah Dally has some bad hands, I usually curse butterfingers at least once a game with him. If we do replace him I just hope it isn't someone with the same bad hands.

I firmly believe resigning dalembert is the #1 goal of this offseason, i don't trust cousins as a full time 5, hes not a good defender (yet at least) and doesn't protect the rim like dalembert, which we will need next year.

So are there any other centers we can go after if we don't sign dalembert?

DeAndre Jordan would bring a lot of the same things as Dally for probably less money. He lacks Dally's experience and is not as good on the boards, but would help fill the void.

If we don't get Dally back, my hope is the Kings pursue either Gasol, Nene, or Jordan. I'm sure we will have to overpay whoever we're interested in.

The cult of Dalembert really has pumped him up to mythic status. I saw a player that had a defensive impact on games and who made a lot of nifty shot blocks. But I also saw a player who had more goal-tends than anyone I've ever seen and who jacked up a lot of ugly, ill advised, momentum killing shots, too. Remember, there was a reason so many 76ers fans were happy to see him go. Now Kings fans have elevated him to MVP status and the player whose shoulders the future of the Kings rests on. I hope he's resigned too but come on, let's quit overrating the guy.
ding ding ding - ditto this whole post.
His amazingly bad offensive plays, his eye-popping goaltends and missed defensive plays were so numerous, I'm guessing that KF's is undergoing some serious selective memory here.

Dalembert has too many signs of a big guy shopping for a big contract, and then just cruising those last years of his career.

I just don't see him busting his butt to make the Kings better next year. And if we'd have to OVERpay him to stay here, then I'd much rather not see him on the Kings. WAY too much chance of his contract becoming a noose around the Kings' necks.

Besides - everyone at KHTK has written it off as a foregone conclusion that he's not going to be playing for the Kings next year, and they have a little more inside information than we do...

This^^^ If we don't re-sign Dalembert, I think we should go after DeAndre Jordan before we go after Gasol or Nene, it just makes better sense from an on the court compatibility sense. We don't need another guy that needs 15 shots a game to be effective like Gasol...sure he grabs 11 rebs, but what he's lacking in weak side defense discounts that. Jordan seems to have more upside defensively, which is what we need along side Cousins, IMO.

Marc Gasol averaged 8.5 shots in 31.9 minutes. Dalembert averaged 7.1 FGA in 24.2 minutes. So Dalembert actually shoots more than Gasol. +
