I feel old!

I feel old whenever someone around my age or younger is described as an elder statesman of the league. I still think of myself as early career...

Side note: in her disapproval of the Kings efforts earlier this season, my puppy put a hole in my J Will t shirt. Only tshirt she damaged.

Tom Brady was the only thing even giving me a hint of freshness.

I'm now embracing it and hunting down a birth year guitar ahead of my 50th birthday. Also an option would be a Firebird but I have no place to keep it or maybe a Rolex from my birth year.

JWill had the moves! Somehow I became a Kings fan in 1986 with the team of Joe Kleine, Eddie Johnson, Mike Woodson, and Reggie Theus. At least we made the playoffs that year :-)

Good thing we can't see join dates on here, that would make some of us feel ancient.

Oh yeah the other day I was playing basketball and my shoes were older than some of the players. I asked them if they knew who he was and they told me "The coach of the Nets??"

We are all getting old. I remember watching Oscar Robertson play. The Big O. I think he once averaged a triple double for the season.

White Chocolate was a blast to watch. Every team needs some flamboyance. Pete Maravich, Larry Bird, the short guy from Washington.

Damn I’m old and I don’t remember watching Robertson play….

Caldwell Jones was the last NBA player who was older than me, born about a year before. He retired in 1990. Did anyone else note who was the last one for them?

Oscar spent most of his career with the Cincinnati Royals, and they were hardly ever on TV. I was a Royals fan living in Columbus, and I only remember seeing them once or twice. Remember that this was a time when there was frequently only one NBA game per week on TV, Oscar won a championship in Milwaukee at the end of his career playing with Kareem. That was the only time I saw him on TV a lot.

J-will had soooo much buzz that rookie year. I remember looking forward to watching our road games when the home crowd got to see him for the first time. The oohs and ahhs from the crowd, jumping to their feet from an opposing kings player! It was part excitement and part amazement that a raggedy looking white kid was doing what he was doing. He would still be a spectacle if he was hitting the league today, but back in the late 90's (after years of ugly physical style play) he was a phenomenon that would win over opposing crowds like no other.

I remember being in college in SC and watching March Madness in the basement of the dorms with a couple 100 students. With just under 5 seconds left in the game, an upstart Cal team gave the ball to their PG (Jason Kidd) who went the length of the floor to score as time expired and knock the heavily favored Duke team (Bobby Hurley, Grant Hill) out of the tournament. I was one of the few cheering for Cal. I hated Duke (their fans were the more arrogant around.

Just curious, when you say SC do you mean Santa Cruz (I'd expect a bunch of Cal fans there) or South Carolina (I guess maybe I'd expect more Duke fans there?) or Southern California (grab bag of fans I guess)?
