I am SICK and TIRED of all this media talk about the Kings giving up!!!!

SacTownKid

Hall of Famer
We didn't blow the team up!!! We didn't surrender and raise the white flag! Only the players on the team right now can decide that, and if I know them, that will never EVER happen. I think if anything this trade addresses our flaws and may make us better,NOT JUST LONG TERM BUT SHORT TERM!!! We could no longer rely on outscoring our opponents b/c our rebounding was sooo horrible. I hope we can rub our success in all these media A-holes faces.

I Hope so too, I really do.

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!! I am sick and friggin tired of hearing these clowns tell the world how the Kings are finished for the year. I hope we win this game and go on a a**-whippin' run......geez louise

I don't know how things will play out for the rest of the season but I am certainly hoping for the best.

Of course, one thing that I haven't seen mentioned on any of these sports shows, either on TV or radio, is that the Kings limped into the all-star break losing 6 of 7. This trade could be the spark that relights the fire that burned last season when Webb was rehabbing his knee. How every basketball "expert" could forget that the Kings were the top seed in the west without Webber is a mystery to me.

Don't get me wrong, I don't see this as a good trade, and I'm not discounting how well Webb played for the Kings this season, but why do these guys presume that Webb's departure spells doom for a team that has played so well without him?

Its called addition by subtraction and I think the Kings may have pulled it off nicely. *fingers crossed of course*

STK - I slightly modified your title. Hope you don't mind. :D

GO KINGS!!!!!

a lot of the people at my work are saying this is a sign that they're moving the Kings. (shakes head sadly)..i don't know what to make of it, but I hope you're right, Sac, that the team will prove them wrong.

Oh come on -- they are more or less right.

Doesn't mean we have given up forever. Just means that this year the odds are now remote. And we knew that going into the deal -- this wasn't a win now, let's beat Tim Duncan with Kenny Thomas move. It was a let's retool and try to win in the future move.

Couldn't agree more.

no brick, i meant they were saying moving, as in the whole team to another city. I view that I don't share. as sad as it is, I expect Bobby to go next at the end of the season. (keeps shaking head)

Petrie cited "flexibility" as the benefit of the trade and said we should be "okay" the rest of the year.

I didn't hear "this will bring us closer to a championship" or "this will make us a better team." That sounds to me like a de facto admission that they are giving up on the season.

Pretty much. As kenny was saying, we've gone from lets get to the finals to hoping to even make the playoffs.

I just don't know what they are planning to do in the off-season now. Who are they going to go after? There's no main guy now and they have no one who is fit to become that type of player. So it's a team effort? Like Detroit? Detroit had an excellent defense and then some.

I would be shocked and very upset to see the same 12 players we have now be on the roster at the start of next season.

kenny was right, tho. by trading webber, petrie basically told the rest of the kings to kiss the season goodbye. petrie, inadvertently or not, pulled the plug on this season, as well as seasons in the future. i'm not an nba player, and i'm not in their heads, but kenny's right: these guys are competitors. they want to win. can you just imagine how mike bibby feels? the guy's a winner, a serious competitor. he hates to lose in video games, much less at basketball. when your general manager more or less tells you he doesnt think the team can win during a season in progress....well, thats a really big blow to the confidence.

I haven't felt so much uncertainty in a while. It was so exciting when Kings were up and coming. Then, the fun of being a championship contender for a few years. Now the ride is over.

Plus, with the arena trouble....this is too much stress!!!!!!!! :)

what pisses me off is i didnt believe the ride was over. neither did chris. he said so just 2 days ago. i would be willing to bet all the rest of the kings still believed in themselves, too. i just can't believe geoff petrie, the man who created this team from the ground up, lost the faith first....very disappointing.

Yo we had 20 assists tonight and we gave up 30 assists to Dallas. Get ready for more of these numbers...

kenny smith is a basketball analyst and former sacramento king.

more likely than not, you will be the one putting your foot in your mouth.

While i didn't like this trade, you have to at least see what the team is like with the 3 new guys playing here first before you forcast what their numbers will be like the rest of this year. Tonight's game wasn't a fair test since we only put half of a team on the floor.

Not if our REOBOUNDING can be helped. Dallas utterly dominated on the offensive boards tonight, plus hit a lot of shots b/c of that fact. Didn't we hear that the trade was supposed to help our rebounding issues.

I agree with you but as I've been pointing out all season we just gave up the best rebounder on our team...

Well we've heard that HERE, but the fact is the guys we are getting back are no better, and actually somewhat worse, as boarders than the guys we got rid of. If we improve it will because the remaining players, and of course Peja in particular, really step up and take responsibility. Darius got off to a good start tongiht -- he has been one of the problems but worked it for a night at least.

i don't think this season is over by any means.

the kings title hopes this year weren't very big to begin with with the way the team with webber rebounded or defended.

hopefully the new pieces help with the defense. they aren't huge guys, so i'm not sure about the rebounding, but if thomas could go back averging 10 a night like he did last year, that would be awesome.

the kings showed tonight that they didn't give up. they played with big time heart, only to tire at the end.
