The topic we all have been thinking about But no-one wants to ask.

How soon do we bring back DeMya Walker?

I have been pleased with the improvement of this ball club. With that being said I believe her timetable has to be moved up. She is not injured; she is out of shape (At least for her standards). She says she is about 80%, and 80% of DeMya is a lot better than 100% of most in the league.

It is not panic time, but it think it is time to make this move.

We are sitting at 6-6, a 1/3 into the season. We have a lot of road trips coming and it only stands to get tougher as the season goes on. We have yet to see Conn, and Indiana is coming in this weekend.

Since we are in the process of improving and we have a nice 3 game home stand, I think this week is as good a time as any to bring her back. My hope is that by bring her back early and easing her back into the rotation the team will be in a position to make a significant push after the All-Star Break if not before. I don’t think we are sending anyone to the All-Star game this year, so it could be a useful time.

She wants to play, and I think we need her to play. She likes to get 3-4 full practices under her belt before getting game time. She has that now; I see no reason to hold her out any further

Thoughts???

Based on Monarchs Talk last night, where Coach T said she really is out of shape but otherwise fine, I think she could be activated and play very brief stretches (think 4 minutes a quarter or less). She would be able to play back into shape that way. It's not like Brittany Wilkins will be giving up any floor time, if she is placed on the inactive list.

I don't think the Monarchs can count on DeMya for heavy lifting, but I think it will help the team emotionally and help DeMya get back in fighting form.

GO MONARCHS!!!

I'd shave some of the minutes that Brunson is not getting and toss DeMya into the mix. I'm not sure when I'd toss her out there because I already think Yo is slow in the defense, Brunson has times when she doesn't rotate properly so we'd be sticking DeMya out there too and presumably she'd be slow and maybe out of step w/her teammates. I don't know if the missed FTs in the LA game were a sign that Maiga and Buescher are getting tired but I have to think if we should be looking to increase Buescher's minutes and that sorta worries me. But I also think we might need to ask them to step up until DeMya is closer to being ready.

If I were gonna push her timetable up, I'd probably give her another week in street clothes and another week worth of practices. If this group can't protect their home floor during this stretch -we're screwed regardless of when DeMya comes back. Against San Antonio, she'd have either a quicker Young, or bigger/taller Feenstra or Anderson to defend. If she would get Wecker, I might take that matchup but I thought Brunson guarded Young last time we saw them. But I also recall Hughes really going quicker with his lineup and that doesn't bode well defensively.

Against LA she'd have Thomas and whoever else they drop down in that 4 spot - I don't remember who else that might be. Then with Indy - she'd have I guess Whitmore and Hoffman and I think they have other quicker posts they turn to. I might like that matchup more than I'd like the prospect of her playing against San Antonio so Sunday might be the earliest I'd want to see her if she came back before her scheduled return or before the first road trip. We should be able to beat LA without her, we should have beat them without her on Sunday.
