Okay, so now that we know that our Kings will be in Sacramento for at least the next 30 years, how many NBA championships will they win during that time frame? Will it be with this current core of young players or with another group?

30 championships! jk id be happy with 1 but even that seems grim at this point.

Why? Even in our mostly miserable 25 years in Sacramento, we had a very good chance to win at least 1 in the early 2000's. Sometime in the next 30 years, we will be dominate again.

I just checked my Magic 8 ball and when I asked if they will win at least one, it replied all points to Yes or something like that. So, 1 it will be.

I reject the poll.

As a fan of the Kings (and basketball as a sport) since the Kings came here in 1985, I am not concerned with championships.
Yeah, we came close on a once-in-a-lifetime fluke of circumstances and karma combining to bring the best TEAM (by far) the sport has seen in 15 years, but I am solely interested in returning the Kings to NBA relevance again.

In fact, I would doubt any Kings fan who is interested in the team primarily for championships - that's not how this team, the FO, the city, or economics of the NBA is built.

The Kings will not win one championship in 30 years - I'll put money right now on it.
I FULLY hope that they are competitive in this sport again, SOON.
And that's all I'm asking for, or expecting.

the whole point of any team in the nba is to win a championship. i wouldn't aim so low as to having this team just be "relevant." i want this team to not only win...but win it all. will they win one in 30 years? i dont know. i hope they will, and if they do, they will return to nba relevance in doing so. so by winning it, we might both get what we want

I'm so glad I don't live in your world.

Then again, you're probably glad I don't live there either.

You have not voted, therefore you cannot win the hover car!

I voted. If I win, is the prize transferable (considering my advanced age and the likelihood I might not be able to collect said prize in person)?

With the current direction of the team, we would be lucky to make the play-offs!

meh...if I'm betting I'd say 2 years and we're looking at a playoff spot. Lakers, Spurs, Houston, and Dallas are all losing steam and with a couple more years of experience and roster improvements we'll be there.

I'll call 2 titles based on nothing

Our one and only championship was in the early 1950's when there were 8 teams. Now there are 30 so even by chance, the odds are much lower. With the present ownership, I think the chances are zero to win any championship unless they loosen their purse strings. My fear is they cannot loosen purse strings as their purse is too dang small. I think we have the makings of a team that could challenge for a championship in a few years. We are that good. It's up to the Maloofs. It is not up to GP or Smart. It is not up to Tyreke developing a jump shot. It is up to the Maloofs. They need to make Sacramento a place players want to come. As it is, many people in other areas of the country think we are a joke. We are, ya know. That makes it difficult to attract free agents. We've had 5 very good years since 1985. We have been awful in many of the other years.

It's up to the Maloofs.

Are you feeling OK? I really disagree but as my note above says, "it is up to the Maloofs." We will see what their intent is very soon. If they pass by what is on the team now, I may concentrate more on watching curling.

Hopefully the big one doesn't hit in that time period and cause CA to fall into the ocean never to be seen again. That would complicate things a little bit.

But really, who knows? With this roster. None. With a better roster? Maybe they'll be a parade one day and we can have a kingsfans drinking booth and all actually meet each other.

Props to everyone who voted 7 or more! No offense, but this is a stupid thread. No way we can predict or even begin to estimate how many championships we can win in the future.

Of course not... but it's still fun to try.

I'm going to say two. I think we get one major and one minor run as a championship contender in the next 30 years, and maybe 5 or 6 total seasons with a good shot. If one of those pans out I'm thinking another one will a couple years after it.

7 or more.

We win the draft, get Davis. That Davis/Cousins frontcourt should be good for about 5 chippies alone over the next 10 years. The other two will be spread out over the remaining twenty.

looks like the prize will have to be split 8 ways. But it would be nice if we were wrong.

I don't think a championship is necessary for me to be a lifetime fan of the Kings. It's hard to win a championship - takes lots of money and lots of luck. But it is sure a lot of fun to be a perennial "factor" like we were for a while. I'd take 10 years of consistent playoff appearances - going deep occasionally.... versus 9 years of sucktitude and 1 championship. I'd also take 10 years of modest .490 - .500 ball, tough at home, occasionally in the playoffs... versus watching the Anaheim Royals or Seattle Sonics win a championship with my Kings.

It will all depend on how long Petrie is going to be our GM - the longer, the lesser the chance. We need a very good GM who can give the Maloofs (or whoever future owner) a better direction.
