How I Know Tyreke is THAT much better than the other ROY candidates

I was watching the Portland game on TV and I noticed something and the light clicked on in my mind; people having been saying "Steph Curry this" and "Brandon Jennings that" for Rookie of the Year... here is the truth:

Remember Curry's triple double? Remember how he and his team was clearly stat padding to get it at the end of that game?
At the end of last night's game vs. Portland, there was about 10 seconds left, but the game was over. The ball is inbounded to Tyreke who needs 107 points to get to the historic 20-5-5 mark; what does Tyreke do? Jennings or Curry would, without a doubt, shoot a three to stat pad... Tyreke dribbled the clock out... HE DRIBBLED THE CLOCK OUT!!!

Tyreke is getting his stats within the context of the game; the other rookies, whom time will forget, are more than a little guilty of stat padding; taking shots, playing minutes, etc outside the relevance of the game.

The Killer? Tyreke STILL has better stats than those guys! That tells me he really is THAT much better than all the other rookies. And let's not get into the fact that PGs guard Curry and Jennings, but defensive specialist SFs (Artest, Battier, Batum, Lebron, etc) guard Tyreke.

You pretty much hit it on the head. I don't doubt that Curry and Jennings are really good players, but Tyreke is really THAT much better than them.

You mentioned how the best players have to guard Tyreke, you also forgot to mention that Tyreke also spends time to time guarding the best players on the other side (i.e. Gilbert Arenas). I doubt Curry or Jennings has had even just 1 defensive stop that was that important as Reke's steal on Arenas.

I dare the Warriors or the Bucks to let Curry or Jennings guard Reke all game. Good luck with that!

While i dont doubt that Curry is a good player, i firmly disagree that Jennings is any good. No player that shoots below 40% from the field is going to receive any kind of praise from me. Thats a HORRIBLE percentage. Besides, anyone thats being honest can clearly see that Evans is BY FAR the best rookie in this class.

That was an April Fool's joke. The author actually had an earlier article claiming Reke might even have a better rookie season than Lebron.

It doesn't read like an April Fools joke, and the commenters certainly didn't catch it. But I guess that's the point...

Yup I agree completely NoBonus. Although I'll add one thing that you never mentioned: The fact that Evans is the focus of the defense for the other team, both individual defense and team defense. The same can't be said for Curry, and probably not Jennings either with Salmons on the team now, and Redd at the beginning of the season, not to mention Bogut in the middle.

word.

Nah, he's referring to Bucks (Eastern Conference) and Kings (Western Conference).

Right. East coast sports fans don't see as much of the West coast teams because our stuff comes on later, so our games start at 10pm and don't end until 1am sometimes. So your typical East coast basketball has seen more of Brandon Jennings than either Reke or Steph Curry. And that's a legitimate consideration when it comes to ROY voting, which is why Reke's number chase is a good thing for his ROY chances. It gets attention from fans and writers who otherwise wouldn't really notice his play.
