What if Salmons came back, took the starting SF spot from Johnson... and ending up being exactly what we needed? a SF that can play a little defense and that wont pass up open looks from anywhere on the floor??? LOL! thus spacing the floor for everyone!

I was like most everyone else here thinking that Johnson was a lock to start and gonna fit in great... well that lasted about 2 games... and the 3rd was insult to injury... he's got more work to do on his shot than anyone else on this team. Thats a really bad thing...

Salmons isn't the long term answer by any means but he could actually spread the floor and hit a few open shots... geez !!! the key to this working even as a stop gap tell we make a trade is Salmons not ball hogging...

if not Salmons ... then im going pro Outlaw .... ehhhhh.... wow sadness

Lol, what's funny is that you could take this exact same question and ask it for each of the last 6 years.

Hopefully, we've finally learned the overwhelming answer to it - WE DON'T NEED SALMONS. ever.

JJ's defense pretty much makes him a lock for the starting 3-spot right now. Offensively may be cruddy, but so is the rest of our team right now. As our team's Thabo though, he's done well.

If only he could just hit those open shots, he would be perfect...like Bruce Bowen used be able to.

hmm, honestly Salmons is a little bit better spot shooter. if Salmons can actually agree not to force his offense, this could be possible

There is nothing funny here. The only thing that would make me crack a smile is for Travis Outlaw on the next bus out of town with John Salmons driving. JJ has been forcing some offense, but he gives you top notch defender at the SF every night. The defense plays their best when he is on the floor. This team will never get better with Salmons playing starter type minutes.

James Johnson?

Yeah i have no idea why i said jones.... Johnson.... i really do think were gonna end up seeing Salmons in the starting 3 spot... We absolutely need to make a trade for a SF that can do 2 things defend and shoot 3's... Johnson was a low risk move and had a shot to do something but we have no real options at the SF spot still

You'd rather have Outlaw and Garcia as your backup SF's? Salmons is the best backup SF we have. It's not like we can get rid of him and it's not like he's blocking an up and coming youngster. If he can out perform Outlaw and Garcia, then put him in the rotation.

People forget when Salmons came off the bench last year, he was actually very productive. His shooting got better and he turned into a pretty solid creator on offense. When he realized he wasn't 'the man' anymore, his game picked up.

I have always thought Salmons to be a talented player but I would not look for him as the answer at the 3. It is a stretch for him. He is a very good SG and we already have a full hand therel. If Thornton were traded for a 6-4 terrific PG then Salmons woould be the perfecgt backup at SG.

Don't forget Smart praised his ability at the point last year.

Maybe he'll join the carousel of PG's lol.

what about jimmer at the SF spot? why don't we give him a chance

Garcia is more of what we need. But he would probably be overpowered by most starting sf's. Spacing has been terrible because teams will concede JJ and Tyreke taking 3's and if Cuz or JT aren't isolated, they are down low trying to get position for rebounds. So you have Evans and JJ driving into 4 or 5 bodies.

Garcia hasn't been able to hit 3's for a couple years now. That's his only job on the offensive end and he can't even do that right.

I don't see anything wrong with Salmons guarding backup SF's while he comes off the bench. He can't possibly be worse than Outlaw and Garcia.

The only reason to play Salmons is to take ballhandling duties next to a Jimmer/Thronton backcourt. Until IT or Brooks get hurt, Salmons shouldn't see the floor.

Johnson is done..... write it down...

He has the talent to be a starting SF in the NBA. but hes on the wrong team... we need a defensive , 3pt shooter... with Evans shot still being a mess. spacing is everything and Johnson is not helping Cousins or Evans whenever hes on the floor.... just look at what teams are doing to him defensivlly they are SOOOO far off him when he has the ball on the perimeter they force him to either 1 shoot .. win for the defense.... or 2 drive into everyone else on our team and the other team in the paint... too many guys live in the paint on this team... ugh!

D.Wright was such a better guy to trade for.... and was had for basically the same as Johnson... nothing....

anyway Salmons is gonna end up being THE GUY at SF... how that works is becoming the slogan for this team.... Who the Hell Knows??? haha

Salmons like i predicted is the missing link... haha ... well a much needed shooter for our starting lineup

Salmons had a good game last night and the starting lineup actually looked balanced for the first time this year. The key to this working is letting Salmons get into rythem by allowing him to control the ball in short spurts. JJ's shooting is just to poor to have him play long mins at the 3 and JT has the 4 on lock right now.
