Hollinger's 2014-15 NBA Playoff Odds

http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/playoffodds

Hollinger has us making the playoffs at #7 based on the current data. Interesting to see the Suns who has a better record being out.

It is likely because we've already played our toughest stretch in this season's schedule and are right at .500. Hollinger's system simulates the remaining games of each team to arrive at it's rankings each week. Here are the rules:

Our best case scenarios is to finish 65-17. Worse is 30-52. 2.9% chance of making the finals.

if we could stay healthy that would be a real possibility. Saw a tweet earlier today that the Kings are 8-1 this season when Collison/Rudy/DeMarcus are all healthy. Only loss coming in Memphis....

*Correction, 7-2 and 2-7. He didn't include the season opener

Yeah I hear you. Such is the case of teams that rely on big 2s or big 3s. Our big 2 Collison/Gay needs to take care of business tomorrow and sat and get a couple wins before Cousins recovers.
He is supposed to be back next week but no one is sure. If Cousins misses the Jazz game, I hope he can be back 100% by tuesday agains the lakers.

Wow.. if we finish with his projected 48 wins and a playoff birth.. this place will be going crazy.

I've developed a habit of not opening any power rankings or projections like this, because we were always at the bottom. I'm not quite sure how to handle a projected 7 seed!

We are finally getting some recognition from the media. Funny how much a few weeks in Spain can change things.

Same. So used to just being annoyed at everyone bashing the team that I don't know how to feel.

If we finish with over 45 wins that might be an A+ season. If we get into the playoffs we could scare a team depending on the matchup. I'm Looking at you Portland/Dallas.

Hollingers rankings have no bias in the sense it's not voted on. Just on the numbers to this point and projections.

The drawback with that is that OKC is SIGNIFICANTLY better than their record to this point. So you have to include them in the playoff race cause they could really get on a roll.

I'd like to see where the Kings land a month from now.

Have to win some games without Boogie!

Only 9 games with DC, rudy and boogie healthy? Is that really true?

Get healthy big guy!

These next 10 or so games against weaker opposite will imo determine if we make it or not, we really need Rudy Gay to step up and lead us to a couple wins while Boogie is out.

Very true, and I hope Malone and the team realizes that. I think whether we make the playoffs this year or not will depend on how hungry we are. Do they go out and play like it's a playoff game every game or will they be dumb enough to play down against lesser opponents when we haven't accomplished anything yet?

Jason Jones tweeted yesterday that Malone was mad about the lack of urgency and intensity in practice after 4 straight losses. He said they can't act like they will just show up and get a W just because we are playing against below .500 teams.

We are not good enough yet nor do we have enough experience to play down to opponents in these upcoming games. Boogie or not, these next 4 games are winnable if the guys play hard from tip off.

Can't believe we are talking about Playoff odds in Sacramento....might want to shelf this talk for another season.

Playoffs are the goal. Cousins won't be out forever. I will shelf nothing.

If playoffs are the goal, then Pete needs to be working the phones and trying to make a trade or two because that goal won't last long without him in the line up...heck even with him in the line up it's still not certain to make the playoffs.

After going 2-5, we are still right there with the Suns for the 8th spot. So yea, we are going to keep this dream of playoffs this year. Why should we wait for another year? All we need is Cousins to be back within the next 14 days or so and some good fortune.

because who knows how long it will take Cousins to return to form and by that time we will be stockpiling a couple of more losses so I'm not as optimistic this season.
