Historical Perspective: Will the Kings be Better off without Adelman?

I am proud to. But i dont think anyone would say that they would be perfectly fine if the kings never won a championship but had alot of success. Noone would say that they are just peechy with no ring. We will enjoy thesuccess (i guess) but noone is perfectly happy that we have never won it all

Speak for yourself. I have lived as a basketball fan for over 40 years and have been very happy. Would the ring for the Kings be the icing on the cake? Well, of course, but the 21 years of enjoyment I've received from the Kings aren't diminished because they haven't yet got it all.

You're trying to put too many provisos on this.

Happy is a very relative term.

captain bill wins the thread.
I all of a sudden dont think it will be PJ, as I once had thought. I think that once the Larry Brown saga in New York gets taken care of, we're going to start to hear the 'Larry to Sac' talk like nothing else...I think he got a bum team with mad egos and no cooperation in NY(regardless of the $$$ he got), but I also wonder how tired he is after that fact, and if he doesnt want a break after this last season of losing...who knows(strayed off topic, I know:D). Thoughts?

Whoah. Perspective police. I watch basketball because the vintage Kings were truly poetry in motion. It was like watching the inside of a clock work.

Title-Schmital, I like watching people actualize their potential. The previous Kings had a chance and fell short. I can only thank them for entertaining me immensly.

Oh well. Children are being pitchforked in Sudan. My personal happiness could never be tied to a goup of people that don't know me and have nothing in common with me. Good luck with that.

Well Finally I agree with you SK4... Shorten your nickname ;)

It is all about the championship and IMO if you are rooting for a team that's only goal is to be "COMPETITIVE" you are a sucker.

You are paying money to be entertained but not to reach the pinacle as a fan. If owners do not want to win a ring why be a fan and pay money to support that team? It's like a heard of sheep IMO. Okay I am going to pay you to not be the best you can, just do okay and Here ya go... here is my 10 bucks for that beer.

It's a ring or bust, (yes I cry in movies 2) I end up in tears thinking about the parade down L street. I was downtown during the Lakers games just to be part of it, in case it happened. Well it didnt but I strongly believe the Maloofs only goal is to bring a championship to Sacramento. Which is why I continue to hang on.

I want a ring, I don't care how we get it, RING or BUST.

You mistake goals with acceptable outcomes and measurments of success. No one is saying they do not care if the Kings win a championship as long as they play good, but some posters ARE claiming that anything short of a Championship is a failure and then use that as rational for fireing a top NBA coach with no proven improvment availalbe. It is as if rational thought can be dismissed in favor of slim odds ONLY beceause the Championship is the only acceptable goal.

Agree, anything short of a ring is not a failure HND if goals are set. 100% agree. However I think the bar has been set here where it is at that ring or bust point

On a side note:

I think we have a few problems with all this and hope you agree.

A lot of people are mixing the firing of RA with the options of a new coach. While I agree RA shouldn't have been fired, the fact of the matter is he was. He is gone and saying "well so and so is not better then rick" is basically a mute point right now. Nothing is going to change how we feel. Sure we can express that and thats what I love about KF.com but nothing is going to change and make RA the coach again.

I don't know really what to say right now after that :) LOL ROFL WTH

uhh I am a guy but you have nice legs? HAHAH

Would add onto the mixing point

Everyone is mixing the firing / treatment / new selction into one big ball and its not. 2 of the 3 are done with. Doesn't mean someone cannot be upset at it but also doesnt mean one should confuse the 3.

I hear you. Unfortunatly it is darn near impossable NOT compare each prospct with RA. But you are right Adelman is gone so who is the best man for the job and in a only marginaly related question who will the Maloofs hire  I would love to see the Kings move to the next level which is why this is so frustrating. Of course I am not big on gambles and to be honest so far the Kings have come out on top with almost every big risk they have taken: trading for Webber, trading for Bonzi and trading for Artest. So as much as it goes against my grain I suppose gambleing on a young assistatn with promise might be the best way to go, I just am not the kind of guy that hits on 17, trys to fill inside straights or buys lottery tickets.
