Here's an idea or two...

Fresno King

Starter
Trade Miller to the Bobcats for Ely, Knight, and their #1 pick in 2007, then sign SCOT POLLARD with the MLE, and trade Hart to Cleveland for cash and a future 2nd rounder. I heard Damon Jones isn't going back to the Cavs. The Bobcats will most likely be in the lottery again which would put us in the top 10 in next year's draft, and they would get a veteran big man to go along with Okafor and Wallace.

PG-Mike Bibby, Brevin Knight, Ronnie Price (13th man)
SG-Bonzi Wells, Kevin Martin, Francisco Garcia
SF-Ron Artest, Sergei Monia
PF-Kenny Thomas, Shareef Abdur-Rahim
C-Melvin Ely, Scot Pollard, Vitaly Potapenko

Probably wishful thinking. :)

The bolded part is the big gaping oozing wound that will still worry me...a lot. And I don't think we're anywhere near ready to make Monia the backup for Artest.

FresnoKing as a Fresno Homer I am sure you have the same feeling for big Mel I have but I have to say he is no replacemtn for Brad. Now if the Kings can get rid of either SAR or better yet Kenny for Ely then maybe your talking about a deal I can get behind. As for bringing back Pollard, not sure aout that. He had some games this year but he definatly seems to be on the down side of his career. Now if they can get rid of Koz and give Pollard the pre and post game show I would LOVE that!

SCOTTT FREAKING POLLARD? i hope hes here to keep the spirits high in the locker room. he is washed up as a player. i'm sure we could get someone better than ely in return for brad.

I wouldn't give up Reef for Ely, and I am a Fresno homer.

And Koz rules! Shame on you. ;)

I hate to say it, but even Scot Pollard would admit he's a washed up bum.
Also, I don't think of Melvin Ely as a center when I see him play. He'd probably be just as bad on defense as Brad Miller.

Eh...not thinking the Melvin Ely/Scot Pollard/Vitaly Potapenko three headed sewer trout is going to get you much fo anyplace but the lottery.

Then pair it with the same crappy PF platoon we had last year, and our entire frontcourt is just garbage and should be dropped off at the nearest Goodwill as soon as possible.

I enjoy hitting up the local Goodwill every now and then. I found some overstock tank-top shirts from the 04' Olympic trials, recently. They were still new and for only 2 bucks each. They're great for working out in. :)

Well pure numbers says your right about the Reef for Ely trade, but what the Kings give up in scoring and one on one defense it picks up in boards and blocks and general interior defnse. Not a trade that will greatly improve the team but might make it better. Bottom line is that trading Brad for an interior center will have to mean a more serios big man than Mel, but as long as the Kings are saddled with Kenny's contract the actually tradeable Reef should be used to find a tough inside defender at the 4/5 to come off the bench.

Front-court is still bad. Ely isn't a starting center, he can play C, but in stretches, not regularly. Pollard? No. Potapenko? No.

Garcia would be Artest's back-up, he was doing it before with Peja and Artest this year. Monia would be a third swingman or traded.

Actually I think Mel isn't all that impressive defensively at this level. At least from what I have seen.

I don't like it. We trade Brad for some bench guys instead of someone with real value. Pollard sucks and there is no way I would give him the MLE.

Monia probably will play in Russia next season. He is a talented guy but he feels unhappy in America. He is a home person. I read that BC Dynamo Moscow offered him a huge contract.
