here is how I see it playing out...

Starter
  1. the kings continue their current level of suckitude for the rest of the season, thus securing many extra ping pong balls.
  2. the Kings "win" the draft lottery, thus securing the first pick in the upcoming draft.
  3. Mr. Oden, assesses the situation, and concludes that college life looks mighty appealing for one more year.
  4. Kings draft the iligitimate love child of Pervis Ellison with the first pick in the draft. I know he's out there somewhere, in spirit, if not genetically--- and the ever diligent kings will spare no expenses finding him.
  5. And the Kings will officially have completed the great circle, and returned themselves to the early 1990s.
  6. Kings next make the playoffs in 2016 (playing in some other city? who knows?)
  7. all is back in equilibrium in the basketball universe.

1. If Oden does not come out and we win the lottery, we get Kevin Durant, who's a superstar in the making.

2. Even if we draft another Pervis Ellison, we will still suck and pick up a superstar PG in next year's draft (OJ Mayo, Derrick Rose)

3. We have Geoff Petrie.

End of story

yea i keep trying to remind people that the 08 draft is going to kick some major *** as well. imo a lot more superstar potential, just more guard play rather than big men. extremely deep.

Thanks for making me smile, Doc!

Unfortunately, #3 is still a possibility that people may have to face.

Okay, I have one question. Are you FAMILIAR at all with "Never Nervous" Pervis? Your post makes it sound as though you think drafting a clone version of him would be a good thing...

i think he was saying it's not the end of the world if it did happen.

At least it's not a likelihood.

He could dodge us for a year, but if he did, what would he get?

A career shortened by $20M, and drafted by Atlanta anyway.

Minus the injuries, Pervis was a 20/10 player. Or have you forgotten that?

But that wasn't my point. Even if we drafted the "next" Pervis, we would still suck and end up with a lottery pick the next year.

Ah, thanks for clarifying...
