Hello Dylan Cardwell

I wouldn’t say no offense, now that I think of it. But no scoring. He can still set screens and rebound. Though at least twice a game he has the ball where I’d like home to try and shoot it. Can’t get better if you don’t try.

I remember Chuck Hayes had a little push shot he would use when in the paint, that would be a nice tool in the bag

Now that he's rich, I hope he will be just as happy as when he was on a two-way contract with one foot in the G-League.

Hell Yah! Honestly I’m thrilled with Perry. I give him a rough time for other things. But this guy is amazing and honestly should have been a 1st rounder!

Dylan strikes me as a guy that's not going to ever take any opportunity he's given for granted. Hell, a big chunk of the reason he got the 4-year deal was his energy on the floor.
If he develops an offensive game, watch out. But the Kings seriously need to fire the player development shooting coach because dude killed Sabonis shot. Unfortunately he is one of viveks friends and countrymen. Get out of the way bibej

I am not sure if anyone has remarked on this, but Cardwell hit 3-4 free throws last game, and his stroke looks more consistent. It's essentially a wrist flick kind of stroke. In the last 12 games, he is shooting 66.7%, better than Precious Achiuwa.

Uh, I heard that part of the interview live and he expressly said he wasn't directly comparing them, only that they did some similar things on the court to help the team. Ham again with the mischaracterization.

He was comparing them, otherwise he wouldn't have brought up Wallace as a positive reference to Cardwell

Ham's statement makes it sound like Perry made a comparison to the two such that they were similar players in skill and impact. Perry specifically said they do some similar things but it was obvious he wasn't DIRECTLY comparing a first-year undrafted backup big to Ben as a finished product. The implication of Ham's post (by omission, if not intentional misstatement) does not match the reality of what was actually said in the conversation.

So it was a loose comparison, but not a direct one? 😄

Even Big Ben was a first-year undrafted backup once!

Ah, yes, just like perhaps me mentioning Kobe Bryant when talking about Chris Duarte because they were both drafted #13 and played guard in the NBA - but I expressly stated I wasn't directly comparing their careers, etc.

Then Ham says in a social media post that I compared them. Sure, if you want to be pedantic, I guess? But it is just a TAD misleading.

I’ll admit to latching on to “young players with promise” and then getting burned later when they never reach the ideal outcome. Am I doing it again with Dylan? At first the thought was 3rd big, occasional defensive sub in certain lineups kinda player. Shot free throws that air balled wide left, zero offense and fouled any arm in the general vicinity. Then it was, well maybe he can be a real backup getting 15 min a game. Then he started rebounding like a menace, offensive end in particular. The free throw shot, while still not great looked better. He found a few high percentage shots he can make. Caught a few lobs. Made laser passes off rebounds leading to second chance shots. Started playing 20 plus minutes and not fouling out. Backup bigs like Goga Bitadze and Jay Huff also showed out in starter minutes and then landed back as solid backups over time. Will Dylan follow in their footsteps or is his rapid improvement in such a short time just the beginning?
