Having problems with resizing pictures

Ok...here's the problem. I bought a Samsung digital camera and when I upload the pictures to my pc and open the picture in paint, it fills my whole screen. It doesn't matter which program I use, the picture still comes out big. How can I resize these pictures?

Does your camera come with any software at all for editing photos?

There's a free program called picassa that you can download here: http://www.picasa.com/index.php , that performs many basic photo enhancement/editing tasks. I haven't used it myself, so I don't know if resizing is one of them, but you would think it would be.

Otherwise, there is a free program that I use called XNView (http://perso.wanadoo.fr/pierre.g/xnview/endownload.html) for many of my own conversion tasks, and I know that resizing is definately one of its features. I use XNView because it works with almost any kind of image ever made (which is hard to come by), but it contains quite a few handy features.

i didnt have any special software, just my comp. DELL windowsXP and DELL all-in-one printer/copier/scanner/fax. what i did
1. scanned 8x10 photo to comp.
2.decresed size by 350% or smaller than 100x100 pixels
3. hit print
4. put that newly printed, very sm .picture in scanner.
5.scanned sm. picture to a file i already had pic. in.
6. from userCP, selected edit avatar
7. select custom avatar ,then browse
8. click picture you want,download..done
