Km

KM will be less effective than B Wells. His skinniness and lack of strength result in him getting pushed around a lot. Kings were trying to get him inside and he was getting consistantly pushed out. He is too weak to be a drive threat in the half court offense and will turn into a 3-pt specialist with that quirky jumpshot. On the other end, Wolves were posting him up a lot with stronger 2-guard, knowing Kings have no weakside help defense. Expect to see this again and again this season.

Talk about leaping right off assumption cliff.

Kevin does have some very good moves driving inside. My guess is you haven't really watched him in games. He gets a fair number of lay-ups and/or trips to the line because of it.

I'm not going to compare Kevin to Bonzi because they are two entirely different types of players.

Km

I watched him mostly in summer league games, where he dominated against that competition and got to the line frequently. He had a few games last year when he did the same thing. But he was new and opposing teams adjust. I think the "new book" on him is to push him around, be ready for a liitle weakside help when he threatens a drive and post him up whenever possible on defense. Wolves did all those things

The wolves did all of those things, and Kevin helped them out by playing tight, making unforced mistakes, yet he still managed to score 23 and shoot over 50%.
There is one thing about Kevin. He is brutally honest with himself about what his shortcomings are, and he works hard on his deficiencies.
4 years ago, it was he is too slight, his shot too akward to even be drafted (oops, he ends up a first round pick) Next was he doesn't have NBA range (oops, he fixed that too) Then it was, he will never score in double digits (oops, wrong again) or be a starter (sensing a pattern?)

He probably will get pushed around some, which is fine. If teams want to attack the Kings with a posting up 2-guard ... I'm all for it.

It's when teams blow by our perimeter guards that it's a real problem. I don't see KM letting this happen too often.

As for the other side, KM and Bonzi are two completely different players. Bonzi was a post player with a pretty poor outside shot. Martin is a slasher with a decent-to-good outside shot. One of those leans more toward a prototypical SG, the other does not. Different players.

Another SG that had a herky shot was named Reggie Miller, perhaps you've heard of him? I don't think KMs shot will be his downfall ... it will be his lack of vision when teams start to play him tougher. But, that is an easy thing to overcome.

I didn't mean to turn this thread to KM...

I still do have high hopes for him. I don't expect Kobe/Lebron style numbers but I would like to see him just a tad more aggressive with his shots. Only reason I say that is because I think he could hit them..

As long as those shots are within the offense, I don't care.

What I don't want to see is KM start jacking up 3s like Artest or my least favorite shot ... the transition 3. I don't want him to force shots.

If he plays within himself and the offense and takes 17 shots a night, I don't care. I think he can thrive. It's when he wants to be Baby MJ that I get a little scared.

would rather have him taking them vs Ron Ron... The true only concern I have is that Ron is trying to take the team over. He is a great if not the best 1v1 defender but on offense he needs to be taking the shots inside... not jumpers.
