good grades Brick.

Bibby just wasnt himself. I dont know if it was his early bad shooting or if something was bothring him. Who knows. Bibby wont say either way. Im sure he'll b just fine.

BJax's rust finally showed.

Puzzled why RA never played Mo. Mo could have given us somthing.

Skinner and Thomas I thought were horrible in that first quarter. Good that Thomas finally settled down.

Mobley..... Boy he drives me nutz!

Peja was the only one somewhat consistent tonight and considering he just came back from an owie, he definately played at least A- game.

I agree absolutely,Peja just came from minor injury and still play god.A- is real.

Rick Adleman--( F )-- Took him till' the middle of the third to realize that 7'1 Ostertag may have a bit more impact at center than Corliss.

Ostertag--( A+ )-- Great impact after coming in. Stopped the lay-up line, and grabbed a bunch of boards. Gave everything we could have wanted.
Glad someone else said this besides me. Why Tag sat on the bench for pretty much 2/3rds of the game is beyond me. Jerome Friggin' James gets 17 points and 15 boards by just being plain taller than the front line the Kings put out there. Best thing about this game is we can't really play much worse as a team and we had a chance to win at the end.

Peja didn't disappear in the fourth. He was moving as usual but there were only two players on the Kings that were willing to give him the ball; Tag and Miller.
its never Peja's fault.;)

I would like to see Eddie get more minutes at least as many as Bobby. Bobby is a little tentative going to the rack and his shot is off. I think everybody got a little too excited by his game against Phoenix(who wasn't trying). Tag needs to give us all the minutes he can. We need big guys!!!!!!!!

Everyone has pretty good comments tonight, but IMHO Adelman does not deserve an "F", or even a bad grade. He had an immense task before him. Had Mike Bibby not been abducted by space aliens and replaced by a non-athletic pod-person clone, the Kings would have won the game, and Rick Adelman would have looked a lot better to casual fans.

The only two criticisms that I have regarding Adelman's effort last night, and I clearly don't count, include: (1) Not trying Mo Evans against Ray Allen, and or, Rashard Lewis. (2) Not putting Greg Ostertag in the game earlier. I think Evans will get some time after the coaches analyze the game-tapes. I think Adelman will go to Tag earlier in game-two.

I also think Bibby, Jackson, Thomas, and Skinner will improve their performances in the next game.

Most importantly, nobody got hurt, and apparently, our rehabilitated players sustained no further injuries or complications.

i think that mo evans should of played instead of corliss because he seems the perfect defender for rashard or ray

F- for Adelman- You do not keep a guy in the game that is struggling like Bibby was in crucial cituations. He should have been taken out and House or Jackson should have come in. Either of them would have been better. Also... why would he disrupt the unit that got us back in the game with Miller (i can understand due to time and leg) but why take out Tag? Just a bad game all over for our team and we need to rebound and take game 2.

Ofcourse.I agree with you.It is Adelman's debacle.

a) As far as I know Adelman never took Tag out after he put him in in the third.

b) Jackson sucked as bad as Bibby. House was ok, but it takes some pretty serious Monday morning QBing (or Sunday morning in this case) to say that we should have given the big minutes to a waiver wire scrub we picked up midseason over two veteran playoff performers.

BTW, debacle? Debacle? Come on now.

Im not sure If I can say Sacramento is a much better team with a straight face. Seatle EARNED the #3 spot this season and has beaten theKings a few times to proove it. The Kings may have the makings of a better team but this trasnition team with 4 key players coming off injuries is problematic. Resting Bibby may have been wise in the long run and foolish for game one. What I mean by that is this. Often times with sore muscles when you are on them working through it as it were, it just does not get better but you are used to the feeling and limber. Then when you reast it a few days things tighten up. I would not be surprised if Bibbys ankle felt tight or weird. His movment to the hoop was almost non existant and his jumper was not just off buy way short a sign that his legs were the problem. Three more days of rest for the leg, some practice and lots of shooting and Mike will NOT have another night like that. As for Bobby the guy is playing with a wrist brace... again more adjustents. Both Brad adn RA have to build up confidence in his leg and as hey do PT will increase... but I don't see how RA can forget Tag now and the power sweep Tag and Brad had on the Thugs from Seatle when they played as a tandem.

Gotta give Peja a "minus" for two reasons, one of which Brick alluded to, his disappearing act in the fourth quarter but also his failure to get the loose ball at his feet under our basket with us down by 1 and allowing JJames to out hustle him while he was content to just slap at the ball instead of pouncing on it and go up for the putback...urrrrrrgh!! I know I pick on Peja but geez I wish we could get some aggressive play from him for just once!

Oh, here we go again. its amazing how we are always the much better team except for Rick. Man, he's probably the only thing holding us back from being a dynasty on the level of the old Celtics.

Alternately some fans could spend a significant portion of their time more than a little deluded about how good their team is, and how bad everybody else's is. At the point that the team "underacheives" 5 years running, it seems very rational to conclude that maybe its never been underachieving at all. We finised the season 23-21 since late January. Seattle won more games than we did, is seeded higher than we are. Our team seems to be much better than the rest of the league...in our heads.

It's hard to find a balance between unrealistic fans with rose-colored glasses and the ill-informed talking heads on ESPN/ABC/TNT who roll their eyes as they dismiss the Kings out of hand.

I am really tired of Rick Adleman making every other coach he faces in the playoffs look better, smarter and more prepared than him.
And do you know what the comon denominator amog ALL those other coaches is?

They are in the play offs meeting yet one more Rick Adleman team, beceause he is there EVERY season.

I think Adelman is a great coach but....How can it be so obvious to all of us fans that Ostertag needed to come in the game and Rick doesn't see it? If Tag played some in the first half we might not have dug ourselves such a deep hole.

And can Mo and Eddie get a chance? PLEEEEEEEEZZZZZ!!!!!

Last night you won't believe this but I went to sit down to watch the game...I watched up until the first time out through the commercial and then when they came back from commercial and Brent and Tom were talking about the first four minutes...but then my power WENT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it...I waited all week and the whole day...sat through three games that didn't effect the Kings any and then the game that I really wanted to watch was when the power went out...it had rained all day yesterday I even prepared myself for what I was gonna do if the sattilite went out...I could of at least got on the computer and followed pbp's or live feeds...but nope not just the satillite ALL OF THE POWER...I was PISSED! It ended up coming back on at like 4am or something..and I turned the TV on and turned to ESPN and saw the score...I was bummed we lost by 5 but I would never would have expected it to be as ugly has some people are saying...even though we didn't jump out of the gates good at all...

:sigh:

Oh well...I expect a much better outing come Tuesday GO KINGS!!

Rick Adleman is NOT a bad coach. While we may have wanted Brad or Tag to play more, he knows MUCH more about this team and players than we as fans do, no matter how much we study the team. This was Miller's first game back from a broekn leg. An irresponsible coach would have played him longer, probably to Brad's detriment and long term team problems. Tag is not in good enough shape to play longer. While his play IMHO was wonderful, if you were watching closely, he was breathing too hard for be depended on for longer stretches at this point. I think we need to look at how he is able to get average players to play above average when they are on our team and notice how most players performance dropps off when they leave. He is a great coach.

I saw the game in person. Nobody was looking for peja in the 4th. You could see him stop moving around so much as a result.

I was VERY annoyed with Mobley, even during his stretch of made field goals. He was looking for NOBODY the whole game. Very selfish game, he seems to dribble with his head down so he can't see the court.

I noticed tag and miller looking for Peja, MIke and MObley weren't. Turns out Mobley shot a better percentage than Peja so in the end maybe it wasn't so bad, but I personally feel we NEED to get peja more touches.

If he took Tag out, it was for 1 minute. Once tag got in, I didn't see him leave. Tag slowed down a bit, but I liked that Rick didn't pull him.

Also, to those complaining about the Tag situation. Do you think Tag can play over 20 minutes a game? Because that's about what he played. Obviously we would prefer to give him a rest, but Tag got his time this game.
