I would actually prefer that Cousins doesn't make the All Star team this year. Keep him hungry with a chip on the shoulder. Feed into full beast mode...punish the entire league ;)

I actually REALLY hope he does make it because it might get him more favorable calls from the refs.

Does beg the question of what will happen when Gay is in the line-up, with so fewer shots to go around, but hopefully Malone can make it work.

It certainly does. The difference between Williams and Gay is that Williams doesn't iso or hog the ball. He plays off of Isaiah and Cousins, and he also looks for Ben, which is important. I think Coach Malone should make Rudy Gay play his iso-ball off the bench, where he would actually be useful. You could surround him with bench spot up shooters like Trout, Jimmer, and MT.

Arguing Gay should come off the bench is one of the more pointless debates one could entertain.

It simply won't happen. Most talented player we've traded for in over a decade who will be the highest paid player on the team and one who both PDA and Malone have raved about since the trade.

And no one was saying Gay should come off the bench before yesterday either. Not one person when the trade went down said, "Rudy Gay, bench spark". I wonder why. People go overboard every time we have a good game. If we didn't play as well as we did last night, I doubt anyone would have the balls to suggest Gay should come off the bench on a team which had won only 5 games at that point. It'd be a laughable statement. It's about as ridiculous as the playoff statements here three games into the season. Some just can't help themselves from going completely overboard after a good game.

Perspective is a virtue.

And this isn't negativity. Those who go overboard every time we have a great game are begging to get slapped with reality. One game does not equate to a pattern. One game does not negate a recent, or larger body of work.

If it were that simple, it would be no problem. Lee and Zach can't hold his jock at this point and Tim Duncan died this year.

Unfortunately the list is actually closer to Love, Aldridge, Griffin, Howard, Davis, and Dirk. And Cousins. Pick 6 of 7. If this trade revitalizes us to get up near .500 it helps a ton. Boogie's numbers, and frankly game, can match any of those guys (Howard and Davis are obviously better defenders). But they'll be looking to find some excuse, any excuse to exclude somebody from that list to make their decision for them (and Howard and Blake probably get voted in anyway). if we are big time losers that could be just the one so they can play the losing team/he'll have plenty of All Star chances in the future card.

I want to say Davis' injury takes him off that list, especially because we COULD catch the Pelicans record here soon.

But the game is in New Orleans. That complicates things. Hard to make a real case over any of those other guys outside of Dirk, but the NBA loves Dirk.

Still, one more injury could do it. Certainly not hoping for that, but it's possible.

I once argued that Thomas Robinson was the best finisher and would become a great player, so you can trust my basketball assessments.
Why don't you give some basketball reasons for why it shouldn't happen?

It doesn't matter. Gay can start the game; in come two to three bench guys after 8 minutes; Gay stays in the game. He's now working with bench guys and some starters, not the starting unit. Yet he still starts. Malone is going to have to disperse his starters in with bench guys in order to not have the bench talent pool not be overly diluted, imo.

I agree you start both Cuz and Gay , If Cuz gets in foul trouble early then leave Gay in

If Cuz is smoking and no fouls, give Gay an early breather with derrick then Put him in when Cuz comes out

Just a thought

you could see our bench players struggle in the first half of the Mavericks game - like 3 pts for a half?

Malone didn't make that mistake in the second half, rotations were much better,

With a tighter 8-9 man rotation hopefully our bench wont become a big problem

What a great game. The best game of the year (and in a loooong time). I loved the teamwork, the passes, trust, defense, steals, etc. There were some moments with the bench group but overall it was a beautiful game. Hopefully this isn’t a one time thing, and we take this energy into the rest of the season.

I can’t wait to see Gay integrated into the team and see how he responds.

Go Kings!

So extremely not needed with Cousins psyche. I don't think you understand the man. The beauty about Cousins is that he has that inner fire to be great, he doesn't need anything or anybody to motivate him.

Cousins is not a changed man this year because he got hungrier. He is a changed man because this organization and it's leadership is now worth playing for. It's very simple. His own tremendous desire to win and be great is now being matched by ownership. There's absolutely no way making the all star team can diminish that. Probably it would add to it, because it would be a vote of confidence from authority that his own humble hard work has been paying off.
