F'N REFS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peja ( D- ) -- just had nothing tonight. Whether it was the back tightening up on the back to back (hope not), tired legs, or just one of those mysterious games where he gets passive, just was totally impotent. Summoned up one little burst of energy down the stretch, hitting a big three and playing strong defense on Dirk. But otherwise what a disappointing followup to his best game in weeks. Just a total nonfactor.
Webber ( B ) -- solid game with good moments and bad, but nowhere near as good as his others since coming off the injury. Did not work the post as much as he perhaps should have, but late in the game his post game was again critical for us -- becoming an increasingly common story. Teams have to react to his game defensively and it opens up the floor. Opened up the wide open three by Bibby to win it...but no. Of course much of this would have been moot if Webb had not choked two FTs with a minute to go. We got royally screwed by the refs in the worst way tonight, but should have iced the game earlier.
Miller ( B+ ) -- strong game in his return. Got off to a big start after the night off, but quieted down as the game went along. Had some defensive struggles against Dampier, but generally outplayed him. Rattled in a couple of big FTs late and was generally our steadiest player down the stretch. Didn't feel like he was as strong as his numbers, but still a very good outing for him.
Mobley ( B ) -- started off very very quietly -- think he had no points after the first quarter. But energy and effectiveness picked up as the game went along. This game also marked the return of shotblocking Cat as he had 2 or 3 of them, one on a recovery play after he was beat, and then another couple diving down to try to help Brad with Dampier. Made a couple of bad decisions in the stretch run again, but should have been the hero and sealed the game with a layup with twelve seconds to go, but unbelievably the refs blew a SECOND goaltending call this week!!! And this one was not in any way questionable -- the ball had already hit the backboard, which makes the call AUTOMATIC. Not even sure what to say, such a screwjob.
Bibby ( B ) -- big scoring game, but grade shrinks because of his 4th quarter. Late third/early 4th was adventursome: missed two more FTs -- a little scary to have one of your best clutch players all kinds of shaky on the line -- then hit two huge DEEP threes, and then tried to singlehandedly keep Dallas in it by making a whole series of turnovers -- think he had 4 in the game, and all 4 were in the fourth. Finsihed things off by missing the open three to win it.
Evans ( A- ) -- huge energy game for Mo -- best he's looked since coming off the injured list. Flew up and down the court, and worked particularly well with Barnes to create havoc all over the court.
Songaila ( C- ) -- did very little statistically, what little impact he had he had defensively where he rotated well, and at least tried to stay with Dirk. But while Darius moved well on defense, Dirk beat him pretty much at will. And Darius simply HAS to get on the damn boards. He's played 47 minutes in the last two games and grabbed all of 4. Does not cut it for a PF.
Barnes ( A ) -- GREAT 2nd quarter stint where he worked beautifully with Mo, setting him up time and time again for dunks and layups. Also scrambled and disrupted on defense to ignite our fast break.
House ( INC ) -- hustled on defense during a second quarter stint. Again never returned in the second half.

Adelman ( B+ ) -- NOW I'm upset. It happened again. Just unbelievable. This one is not a judgment call -- the refs flat blew the call. There is no question when it hits the backboard first + obviously had a chance to go in. That's an embarrassment, and frankly on this one the NBA DOES owe us an apology. Might get one too -- think I've seen/heard that before. But maybe I'm confusing my sports. In any case, we won this game. Everywhere but the scoreboard. But even so, played another shaky 4th quarter. Turned the ball over, missed FTs. Did everything wrong. And now after another excruciating loss, have to wonder where the team's head is. Where can it be? Rick has done a great job keeping the guys in and fighting. But this is going to be a real challenge for him now. Brutal week. In game Rick did a nice job finding Matt and Mo as a hustle tandem off the bench. But he may have overplayed a flat and ineffective Peja -- maybe should have been MORE Matt & Mo. Also went with an ineffective Darius as the thrid big man. Predictable against the mobile Mavs. But when Darius is doing nothing you always start looking down that bench and wishing you had a 7'2" player in there doing the nothing -- at least he might clog the lane and keep yet ANOTHER team from shooting 54% against you. In any case, brutal "loss". But Rick did pretty well. He can't go out there and make FTs for the guys or make them take care of the ball in the stretch. He had us in position to win the game. But our guys choked it, and then the refs blatantly stole it. Heck of a way to kick off the weekend.

fair grades

im just still absolutely floored beyond belief right now

::shakes head::

::shrugs shoulders::

i feel hurt...and ima fan...i can only imagine how the guys feel

last time (tuesday night) i had a whole lot to say...tonight im just so shocked i have nothing much to say

the refs are a effin disgrace...and ya know earlier in the Cavs/Nuggets game they blew some pretty obvious calls too

now we go on a a short road trip before the all star game...first up Boston (ill be there cheering them on and supporting them) but i really can wait for the next 3 games or so to be up so that the boys can rest and regroup...cuz this has to be in the head of every player...even the guys that kept the bench warm all night...whata freaking bummer

::sigh::

Funny, but I thought we had a 7'2" player named Osterag. Obviously the coach has little faith in him judging by how few minutes are played by him.
I mentioned in another thread the name Tyson Chandler. 7'2", athletic, and a rebounder with hughe potential.

Team grade...A+

Why? Because none of them threw anything, none of them beat the crap out of anybody, and none of them spouted off to the media.

I did see Joe and Gavin talking to Cuban right after the game. I'm not too good at reading lips, but I did see them telling Cuban it was TWICE, not once but TWICE.

I don't think I've seen such a travesty in a very long time. And this one isn't even open to interpretation. It was goal-tending. The entire world knows it was goal-tending. I suppose ESPN will make it the bleeping play of the night again.

I'm stunned.

Before people get all up in the team about the final minutes, PLEASE remember they played a tough game at a VERY fast pace last night in Seattle , had to grab a very late flight home, and then play another run and gun game tonight.

Sacramento committed five turnovers in the first 5 minutes of the fourth quarter after having only six in the first three quarters.

Big stat right there.

Here is the Yahoo recap. Check it out:

What a joke -- notice their comment about the ball not being on the way down? IT DOES NOT MATTER!!

Here's the rule: "d. During a field goal attempt, touch a ball after it has touched any part of the backboard above ring level, whether the ball is considered on its upward or downward flight."

That was a goaltend. There was no doubt. None at all.

Team effort: A

I really think they play harder tonite. You can tell they work their butts off for those steals and rebounds. Just a little bit short at the end. Hope they will continous to play hard every night.

Wow is there an echo in here. I have said the same thing numerous times.

Why do we even watch. We play no defense at all. And when we do some how score more than our opponents the refs take that away from us. I am sorry but with those 2 facts involved we don't have a chance in this league.

Who wrote that recap???????

"Erick Dampier came over and blocked Mobley's shot after it hit the backboard, but the ball did not appear to be on its way down yet."

This stupid punk contradict himself. How can it not a goaltend 'after it hit the backboard'?

what frustrates me is the look on our guys' faces! if we, as fans, are frustrated, you have to wonder how the players feel.. mike's face said it all.. his facial expression said a alot of words that could've gotten him fined again..

then brad did a good job of trying to prevent mobley from getting in trouble and possibly suspended..

everyone knew it was a goaltend! even the mavs players knew it was a goal tend! jason terry, or whoever the hell shot that last shot just had to say "i don't know about that" when he was interviewed.. well, what is he supposed to say? he saw it was a goal tend, just like everyone in the arena and watching at home.. there are 3 refs.. not one saw that?!?! unbelievable! very disgusting!

espn showed them talking during the timeout (after that GOALTEND!) you now what, i'm sure they were saying, "we definitely blew that one".. the least they could do was makeup for the call.. call a foul and make us hit FTs..

whatever

This is actualy more serious than 2 bad losses

I resested the temptation to start a new thread or psot this in one of the myrid of threads bemoaning the second no call on a obvious goal tend, so I am going to say it here.

The NBA officials have just givne a green light to every team in the NBA to swat the ball out of the sky in the final seconds of games agianst the Kings. Im not saying expect to see this repeated, but don't be supprised if we do. If nothing else shotblckers will be MUCH less hesatant to go up after game wining/tieng shots against Sac. This could well result in more lefit blocks than one would normaly expect in crunch time. Heck if I were a coach I would tell my shot blcokers jsut that, go get them.

It may well also be a signal that fouls will not be called to bail Kings out so go hit them in crunch time. This may only be a weird coincidence but I have a very, very bad feeling after tonights game.

i thought Mike did a GREAT job in getting off the court in a timely manner tonight

Cuttino part II (somewhat paraphrased)

Because you failed to make a crucial play two nights in a row, should you be fined now?

You don't want to say too much because it's dictatorship

No, I'm not depressed, I love my life. I'm a little angry. In my head right now I'm in an ultimate fighting championship and you can imagine whos is in (with me) there right now.

I'm not going to say that. I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt even though they don't give us....Chris Webber went up to Jack Neis and asked him calmly do you think that was goaltending and he said no, get the hell away from me

Right now we are on the short end of the stick and hopefully that will turn around sooner or later

When I speak out its not just for me....I'm not cussing. So for someone to fine me for what I'm saying...

I think somebody needs to be a man a step up and do what you go to do

I'm not backing down from nothing. You want to talk to me, come talk to me

EDIT: Webb also spoke to the media and was pretty cool/smart about it. Almost refusing to answer questions because he said that they were trying to bait him and he doesn't need to lose any more money.

ya know the thing i love about Cat when he speaks to the media...is the things in the sentences that he sneaks in like for example most guys would have said

"No, im not depressed. Im a little angry..."

but Cat says

"No, im not depressed. I love my life. Im a little angry..."

i love that...lol
