Also, shots will not "eventually" start to fall if the person shooting them is not a good shooter. Sure, put Andrew Bynum out at the 3 point line and ask him to shoot. Eventually the shots will fall. Hitting 1-1000 shots is bad, but eventually one fell. **** this, we can wait till DMC finally gets too tired of losing and blows up officially and Salmons, Jimmer and Garcia still wouldn't have hit a 3 pointer.

In all seriousness, I'm pretty sure many many college teams could beat the Kings right now.
It looked like the freshmen vs the varsity out there tonight.
This Kings team would lose most nights to the Mavs bench players.

There is simply no way the Kings will win until they start setting some screens or try pick-and-rolls or have someone down low be able to get a reliable shot off.

This offense has ZERO chance of being competitive in the NBA - it is way too easy to shut down. Even 35 year olds find it easy to stay in front of our 22 year olds!

Right now it looks like we've gone backwards. If we had just kept the exact same personnel we had to end the season last year we would have been better. I actually think Reke, Cousins, and Donte (a personal fav) are better (Cisco I always preferred when he was injured); but somehow our front office lost faith.

And to top it off, I don't like the ads that accompany this site now.

im not looking forward to games against the heat,OKC,magic ect.... because they are a better team then the mavs

How are those teams better than the Mavs? Mave best two of those teams pretty easily in the playoffs last year. I know this year's Mavs team is a little different but most of the core is still there and they're probably the deepest team in the NBA.

We already played the Magic and gave them all they wanted.

The problem right now is teams with stifling team defenses. We've basically been a team without an NBA offense all season long. Westphal bizarrely refused to even install one, and then Smart came in midseason and has been having to try to install one on the fly while playing 2 out of every 3 days. Result is that we now have a structure, an offense, there are plays, but we have no reps running it, there is no way we have all the variations, reads, switches etc. incorporated, and any top defensive team with a coaching staff can look at the video and take it apart just that easily. If our guys can keep their heads up and continue to buy in this should improve just by running the new offense for longer than a week. Relatively speaking we have less experience with this thing than we would have had after 1 week of training camp, where every day has multiple practices. For Smart this seaon he may have had 2 or 3 total practices putting this in, and then some game day walkthroughs.

Real danger here as I have mentioned before is if we start spiraling here early -- we just have to have one of the toughest early season schedules in the league, there are no breaks, and the team is the youngest in the league. if we get 10 games under .500 early in the season guys could easily stop believing we can recover, and we need everybody to keep their heads in the game for the soft 2nd half of the year we have schedulewise.

OKC - 11-2
Heat 8-4 (lost labron and wade for games not to mention smashed the mavs aswell)

heat are 1st and OKC 4th on the offensive standings... mavs 15th

Heat 6th and OKC 16th on defensive standings... Mavs 18th

Heat and OKC both averaging over 100 points a game... we are averaging just over 90

All those "Xs and Os" mean very little to me. They never tell the full story. The Mavs are playing far better than they were at the start of the year. In a playoff series i'd still put my money on the Mavs over OKC or the Heat.

on a side note did cousins get many fouls and were we ever in the game

The game was on some stupid delay on Dish Network. It didn't come on until half way through the first quarter and the Kings were already down double digits by then. So if they were ever in it, it wasn't for more than a few possessions.

True, but I fear it's already too late. With the way the schedule is for January and February I'd be surprised if they've won anymore than about 8 or 9 games by March. Then the softer schedule may help a little in March and April but by then it will be too late and everyone will re rooting for wosses.

Yeah, unfortunately the first half of the season is 90% of the importance to the fanbase, as far as competitiveness is concerned.
If a team is out of contention by halfway, it doesn't matter if they win a lot more in the second half when the fans already knew long ago that their team won't be in the playoffs AGAIN, and they'll be looking forward to hope in the lottery, and every fairly-meaningless win in the 2nd half just gets them less hope in the lottery.

First-half wins are the important ones to get an involved fanbase, something the Kings desperately need.

If your post and evaluation indicates you watched the game, you have my admiration. I couldn't because of a crab feed and on getting home I saw the final score and couldn't watch. Thanks for posting this.
