GP tells Boston Globe it will be Sacto or Minny

iheartbrad is a right: it's completely illogical to move Hudson when you have an aging and obviously deteriorating Cassell as your current point guard. Why not keep Hudson and move Sprewell and Cassell as expiring contracts and get a decent big in return?

And bringing Payton here is just as confusing to me. We all know how much he struggled in the triangle last year, which led to detrimental complaining. The triangle is similar enough to the Princeton offense, but the difference is that the point guard would have the ball even less in the Princeton offense. Even more complaining. And no Karl Malone to calm him down.

I see absolutely no benefit to bringing Payton to Sacramento. I do see a lot of potential problems. If - and that's a terrifically big if - GP makes any more moves at all this season, I strongly suspect they would involve Pedja.

Sorry, Glove. You're a Mitten nowadays and one we really don't need.

Oh whoa.... I keep getting confused... GP keeps switching between meaning Geoff Petrie and Gary Payton.... head hurts...

how bout if jax doesnt come back.i mean this guy is averaging 12 points and 6 assists i mean thats not that bad.this guy is better than house.the guy can still score i mean 27 against utah is not bad he can post up smaller point guards if needed.if not gp we have to make one last move to make this team a little better.

they should trade him to houston for mutombo and gaines....
nah, I dont want Payton, he's 2 years outta his twilight, even...he needs to retire after this year. He doesnt need to be on our team, he brings nothing of value and needs to take at least 15 shots a game to be effective, and we dont have that for him. Minny will probably get him.

His average doesn't mean a thing. He wouldn't be playing major minutes anyway. You make the assumption that we have to make one last move to make this team a little better. I'm not in any way, shape or form buying into that. AND if we do have to make one last trade, I don't see Gary Payton as being the answer to anything.

VF is right: there's only one guy to be desired on the Celtics and it's not Gary Payton. And that's The Truth. :)

I'm not sure if everyone is aware, but I do seem to recall B-Jax will not be playing at all this season -- and this post-season as well. Although Payton may be a loud mouth, he still is a very capable back-up point guard ( something we will need in the playoffs when Bibby gets tired playing a lot of minutes). And I don't have much confidance in Eddie House at all.

Jaylee - There is every indication that Bobby WILL, in fact, be able to come back for the play-offs. Even if he can't, I do not think Gary Payton is the answer to any gaping hole. I would be stunned beyond all belief if Geoff Petrie brought Payton to the Kings.

Ability aside, Gary Payton is not going to be King now or never. He would totally disrupt the cemistry of this team. He is a problem in the locker room and I would be totally against bringing him here. With that said, I'm not the one making the decision. I can't see Geff bringing him here. If we do make a trade, it would be for a big man to help in the middle. :p

I hate the be the bearer of bad news but lets be realistic. There IS a need for one last move to make the team (no not better) a true title contender. Dont get me wrong there is no way I want the "glove" here in Sac. But I do think we need one more trade to really bring this team up to par. The Kings are doing great, but Im not that confident even with BJax in the lineup that we can beat the Spurs in 7 games come June. We have no answer for Manu Ginobili. The only solution I can see is if Peja steps up and creates his own shots or Petrie trades Peja for a Ginobili twin or something.

What?????????

I said we shouldn't bring Payton in. Period. I also said I personally don't think we need to make another trade to make the team a title contender.

My opinion is every bit as realistic as yours. Your confidence in the team is not a major factor in my decision making process.

My confidence in the team? Whatever dude, when the Spurs kick our *** again because Peja only got 8 points then you will sing a different tune.

Your comment about confidence:

If the Spurs kick our *** again the playoffs, and it's SOLELY because Pedja couldn't score, then I'll consider a re-evaluation. If, on the other hand, the Kings defeat the Spurs without another trade, I'll fully expect you to do some major crow-eating.

I'm still not convinced we need to make another move to be a title contender. You disagree. That's fine. Those are opinions and we all have them. As I said, your lack of confidence in the team doesn't affect MY opinion. So, to say my opinion isn't realistic because it doesn't agree with yours is erroneous.

And, as KP just pointed out, I'm not a dude.

What? You gave up already? Geez. And I was just getting started.

;)

BTW, if I banned everyone who had disagreed with me at one time or another, it would be a pretty lonely place around here.

:D

Plus Payton is crap you saw him the finals last year lol

I think that was more of the Triangle offense talking than Payton. Although his complaining didn't really make him much better, now did it? But again, as I said earlier, Payton really doesn't have much of a better shot at fitting into the Kings' offense than he did with the Lakers last year. He's playing decent enough this year, but with an offense that usually runs through our big men, he won't be any happier. Obviously, getting to the Finals last year didn't satisfy him, soa winning situation isn't what he desires obviously. He wants the ball all the time, and there aren't many teams that are willing to fulfill his requests. He's not fast enough anymore to be a slasher that we could use in our offense, he can't shoot, and he isn't a stopper on defense anymore. We have no use for him.

I can only see this happening if it were part of a Peja for Pierce trade, and GP being "thrown in". He wouldn't resign next year anyway, because of Bobby coming back *crosses fingers.

But what I have seen of Mobley bringing up the ball I have not been dissapointed. He seems to be doing a hell of a job.
