Oh, Boy, how different things are today with our Kings!
I've been hiding away deep in the Sierra woods stockpiling silver, gold, guns, food in cargo containers in my preparation for the SHTF scenarios -- all with nary a Kings game watched, nor any articles read and I sure was surprised to see that Theus was fired. WTF?
Now that I've read through the backlog of the Bee's articles and Kings Fans forum threads, I'm seeing the larger picture and it is not a pretty one. Rebuilding must commence ... but is Petrie really the man for the job? Dunno. His record does not bode well, does it?
But neither does the record of the Maloofs making emotional choices over Petrie's silent objections. As a long-time St. Louis Rams fan suffering through yet another dismal season (I've yet to watch a game this season, nor have I read any articles ... people who know that I'm a Ram fan have been filling me in with the consistently-bad news), it's clearly the fault of the Rams' FO (Front Office) for mishandling yet another season. That team needs to fire the FO, big-time.
So, too, a big change at the top (how can that happen?) may be needed at the Kings, but the Maloofs are here to stay, as is Petrie, or is he not?
Good riddance, 2008. But does 2009 portend to be a better year? I think not, but, just the same, I wish you all as good of a year in 2009 as it can be. It'll all get better, but maybe not right away in the new year.
Happy New Year, 2010, y'all. That's no typo -- I figured -- why not skip 2009 to a better year in 2010? Worth a try. Rip Van Winkle, anyone?
