Not saying he was never good, but to me, he's tarnished now forever. All those guys who used steroids are.
He may be tarnished but he didnt use steroids his whole career. He used them for 1 year, possibly 2. The 1 year being when he hit 73 HR's of course. The man is still better than the majority of MLB sluggers and had he not taken steroids, he would still be top 5 players of all time. Obviously thats different though since he did take steroids which tarnished him. IMO steroids or not hes still the best player to ever play the game.

Sucks for him. I used to really like the guy, without the roids he was still an amazingly consistent hitter. Wonder why he roided in the first place?

Dont know... he had it all... fame, money, a family, friends...

Couldve been pressure by his friend/trainer, could be the desire for more...

Could have been him watching Mark McGwire crush those thirteen something homeruns in the homerun derby.

just curious, when did bonds ever test positive for steriods?? i must have missed that..........
Hmm.

I was totally thinking the same thing.

In Bonds' case, unfortunatly you have guilty until proven innocent, and that's never gonna change.

NL west is wide open. Anyone can win it. However, with the moves LA has made it appears clear to me that they will win the NL west and Giants will finish last.

Think Blue!

Gotta love a Dodger fan who doesn't even realize this team is built for one year.

I used to say that as well. However he did admit to using steroids. For how long? Who knows... no more than a year is what is suspected. If he didnt use them, I dont think he would lie to the courts knowing it would ruin his reputation. True he has never tested positive and there is a chance he never used them but why would he admit to something he didnt do.

When did he admit to using steriods? He admitted to using a clear substance and a cream. That is far from admitting steriod use considering the amount of products the professional athlete uses.

Those substances are known as "The Clear" and "The Cream" for the undetectable steroids produced by Victor and Co. at BALCO.

Dont get me wrong, I dont want to believe that he took them and unless there is real evidence that he took something (non-verbal) then I wont believe it for sure or accuse him of it but I am beggining to think he did take them for that 1 year. There are no facts and there may never be any but like sanity said, proof or not his name is tainted forever (unless they are willing to test all of his old urine samples for todays known steroids). Im a life long Giants fan and I know both Barry and Greg personally (Only known them since 2004). There is no doubt that he is clean now and still the most dominant player in the game but for that one year (73hr) it will always be a little fuzzy.

40 year old men don't become two times bigger and stronger from running on the Gazelle Freestyle.

He may never admit it, but its true. Tons of players were on steroids. A good family friend of mine, who played pro ball for the Padres also fell victim to them, and he had a great season. MVP season actually. He stopped, and so did his good play. I'm not saying Barry was never good without them though, just enhanced.

honestly he didnt get two times bigger... if you have ever seen bonds in person he isnt that big. little taller than me but obviously mostly muscle (upper body, legs arent as big compared to upper body but im sure they are plenty strong - and this is prior to the knee surgery) He didnt look any bigger than what someone could do naturally with the perfect diet and tons of training/lifting. So, if he were indeed on steroids you couldnt tell by looking at him or comparing pictures because all he had to do was step it up big time in the gym.

his baseball cap size went from a 7 1/3 to an 8 1/2. i wasn't aware heads grew when lifting weights.

whatever...........its obvious to those who don't have bonds blinders on. you said it yourself. everyone was doing it, now i'm just waiting to see a full season of normal barry, if he can last a whole season.

I just used a cream. Am I on steriods? And I'm hardly a professional athlete rubbing god knows what on all my aching joints and pains. If thats the only evidence that the Bondshaters have that he was opn the juice, it would get laughed out of any court house, which is why they lobby in the court of puplic opinion, where facts matter little and peope are looking for a reason to those who have climbed high above them.

And the whole "there is no proof and there probably never will be" crowd cracks me up too, uh, yes there is proof. The thousands of drug tests that Barry has never failed.

I have thousands of clean drug tests and you have an assumption that Barry's head grew, and somehow I'm the one with blinders on... makes sense.

You cant test positive for something that you arent testing for. They werent testing for what was in the Balco stuff and therefor it obviously would come up clean. Thats why its called "The Clear" because its not detectable. lol Im not a Bonds hater and im not saying he did it but I can see how/why he would. Im just leaving my mind open on this. Like I have said for a long time, the only year in doubt is the 73hr year (they refused to re-test those drug tests for the new steroids) but since then he has been clean since they knew what to test for and since he isnt stupid enough to keep doing something with everyone watching him. Im not accusing him, just trying to get everything straight so i can make a decision.

The first and the most important rule of baseball:

"You can start baseball topic about whatever you want - it would be about Barry Bonds anyway". :D

Bibby is Clutch-

Question for you?

The Padres just acquired Shawn Estes and I remember him being on the Giants. How is he and what do you think of him?
