To give us even a remote chance at the Brooklyn pick (and I mean very remote), we're probably talking:

If a deal like that were to happen, we would probably buyout Smith as I would think we don't want him anywhere near our young guys, but then you have this core of young guys:
PG - Fox / Mason
SG - Hield / Richardson
SF - Jackson
PF - Labissiere / Giles
C - Cauley-Stein / Papagiannis
We could end up grabbing Doncic/Porter with our pick and a guy like Knox/Mil. Bridges/Mik. Bridges with the Brooklyn pick.

No way we get the Nets pick for Hill.
I would be more than happy with the Cavs 1st round pick for Hill though.

Agree that a 2019 pick would be much better than a 2018 pick. The Kings already have too many young players and adding three more (Giles plus 2 picks) next year would not help their current situation.

You think this is more likely than adding an extra year on the TT contract? Asking seriously. Retooling the whole roster by trading one of our most capable players to take another shot in the dark at developing an additional youngster?

We are not, and should not act, desperate to get rid of Hill. Those of you who are willing to give away the store to get rid of him need to calm down.
If we can turn him into a decent pick in 2019 without sacrificing our youth movement, then I'm good with it. We don't need more vets to temp Joerger and steal playing time.
Next year our rookies will be Giles, a top 5 lottery pick, and a 2nd rounder. We don't need another rookie on top of that.
But we'll need some fresh blood for the following season.

We would need to move someone like KK for a 2nd round pick, but there are only like 3 teams with cap space and I dont think any of them are doing that. Bulls, Mavs and Phx.

The 2019 pick is owed to ATL (top 10 protected) unless they want to trade us 1-10 which I highly doubt.
Could they do a 2020 pick? If Lebron doesn't resign with them, they could be really bad by 2020. Could be a Danny Angie type move on Vlade's part.
If Vlade wants the Brooklyn pick, I'm wondering if there is a scenario where we could ship out Hill + other veterans for salary matching purposes and take on a couple of bad contracts from Cleveland. I could see Cleveland maybe going for the salary dump to entice Lebron to resign since they'll have money for higher quality free agents. I don't think Hill for the Brooklyn pick and a bad contract is enough to get it done but a couple bad contracts could entice them.
Cleveland is in a weird spot right now. They are desperate because they have a chance to win a championship this year but they need some other pieces to get it done. But Lebron has them in a weird situation since he won't commit to signing. There's no type of deal that could create space for Cleveland. The only expiring we have is VC at $8mill.
If Vlade wants the Brooklyn pick, we'd need to give up Bogdan, Buddy+?, or WCS all along with Hill. Nothing else remotely makes sense for them.

Unfortunately, that's not how it works. Two-way deals are their own animal. The Kings are at the 15 maximum of normal spots, separately from the two-way deals. They'd have to cut someone like Carter.
Yeah, um ... no. I seriously doubt if Vlade is going to entertain trading away Bogdan.

Which is inevitable, isn’t it? Carter will either be waived so he can sign with a playoff team or traded for potato chips to a playoff team. Kings aren’t going to keep him to the bitter end of a losing year on what figures to be his last season. Plenty of good teams will bring him on just to have him there come playoff time as a send off. Most likely Toronto.

Carter is not going to be waived. Carter will either fulfill his contract here or be traded back to the Raptors.

This would be my angle. I hate to besmirch a fellow small market, but CLE has not really been all that relevant outside of miraculously landing hometown hero Lebron at #1, and then Lebron returning because they had a bevy of #1 picks to trade for Love. They are not likely to land free agents or even be mediocre beyond this season. Their owner never extends GMs, so Koby Altman has almost zero incentive to think beyond the short term. When he gets dismissed in two years and is interviewing with potential employers he can just point to Gilbert’s history and truthfully state he had no reason not to mortgage the future for a shot at one more ring.
I would look for a pick swap in 2020 and a #1 protected pick in 2021 for taking on a couple bad contracts.

As much as I dislike Hill, his apathetic nature to being here is an additive to driving the tank. The team could be better without him

Vlade doesn't need to trade Hill this season if he doesn't like the return. Hill is essentially a two year contract with a third year option which I doubt he will pick up if he so happens to still be here, which he won't.
Shams is the new Woj. He hears a lot of stuff. I don't see anything that indicates where he heard it. My guess would be someone from within Hill's camp trying to stir up possible interest.

I don't think we need to break the bank for the Nets pick. It's less valuable now than it was at the beginning of the season.
As of now, they are 8th in standing. I don't see lot of teams falling down (except probably Hornets, particularly if they trade Kemba), or a lot of teams moving up (Grizz probably, who are riddled with injuries).
Chances are, that the pick will be in the 7-8 range. Remember, WCS was picked 5th, Buddy 6th, and Bogdan has been playing well. All of them are on their rookie contracts. One may complain about WCS/Buddy not showing enough relative to their pick positions in years 3/2 respectively (something that can be debated, but I am ok with where they are right now), but I don't see the need to take on bad contracts and give away prospects for a 7-8 pick.

Go back to last year's draft. We were presumably picking 8-1oth. Would you accept any average NBA player? no. What would you want for it? Either
a) a good player or
b) a young player with actual potential.
Cavaliers are in the same boat even though they're contending this year. Lotto pick is still lotto pick. Teams value 1st rounders, especially lotto picks. Only teams that don't are the Nets and Kings.
I'm not saying we should trade all that for the Cavs pick, but you better bet we'd need to give up A LOT more than just George Hill. Kings fans have complained about him all season, but now that his name comes up in trades, we act like he's worth a lotto pick lol.

As others have mentioned, the pressure is all on Cleveland if LeBron wants Hill.
Worst case we keep him, and his garbage play helps the tank. He's basically a fat expiring next season.

WHY would we trade a kid we're just starting to get to know for another unknown quantity? At some point, you have to quit drooling over the grass on the other side of the fence or the next model of iPhone. Quit shopping for raw materials and start building.
