I don't think we need to break the bank for the Nets pick. It's less valuable now than it was at the beginning of the season.
As of now, they are 8th in standing. I don't see lot of teams falling down (except probably Hornets, particularly if they trade Kemba), or a lot of teams moving up (Grizz probably, who are riddled with injuries).
Chances are, that the pick will be in the 7-8 range. Remember, WCS was picked 5th, Buddy 6th, and Bogdan has been playing well. All of them are on their rookie contracts. One may complain about WCS/Buddy not showing enough relative to their pick positions in years 3/2 respectively (something that can be debated, but I am ok with where they are right now), but I don't see the need to take on bad contracts and give away prospects for a 7-8 pick.
