Well, Gasol already said he is unhappy, and pretty much does not want to be a part of a rebuilding team. Lets face it. Memphis will not do anything this year. Gasol isn't the end all for Memphis.
Think of Memphis with our pick next year, and their own (which should be a high pick as well), plus a couple contracts off the books next year, and a couple young athletic players.
IMO Charlotte is doing it the right way although they have not had a ton of success yet.
As it stands now, Charlotte is one scorer away from being a pretty damn good team, and we are one big away from the same....
Hell, if it was that easy I would move do something like this.....
Sacramento trades: Bibby, Williamson, Potapenko, Artest, 1st rounder
Memphis trades: Gasol, Atkins
Charlotte trades: Brezec, May, Felton
LA trades: Maggette
Sacramento gets: Maggette, Felton, Gasol, Brezec (Gets a couple bigs, and can finally tell K9 to just go home)
Memphis gets: Williamson, Potapeko, 1st rounder, May (clear cap space for next year, gets younger, and a 1st rounder in a deep draft)
Charlotte gets: Bibby, Atkins (they move Wallace to SG, keep Artest at SF)
LA gets: Artest
Basically Memphis goes young, and gets another draft pick in whats said to be one of the deepest draft in years along with their already high pick. Plus they get May to step in where Gasol was.
Sacramento gets a young back court in Martin, and Felton which can both grow together, Gasol w/ Miller up front, and Brezec to backup. (we are missing a decent bench as we once had), and Maggette at SF to do the dirty work.
Charlotte gets a scorer in Bibby which the REALLY need. Think of a Okafor, Wallace, Bibby, Morrison core.
Clippers do it to get Artest, and get rid of Maggette.
