Ok lots of us have complained about Hart, and others amongs us (including my self) have claimed there was just no other option on this team as Price jsut does not seem ready. But tonight RA let Cisco share point duties with Ron for a bit with mixed results. In the second he did a good job keeping up with a fast flowing offense and defended pretty well. In the second half he took a few more min at point but made a few of his wild passes and belive it or not passed up a shot he should have taken. (Remember in preseason this guy took every shot that came his way no matter how ill concived)

Now I am NOT suggesting that Garcia is a good long term solution at PG, but he handles the ball well, can pass, shoot, defend and run. He may be a decent solution for the remainder of the season, and he may also be a good call for a second (or third) handler on court with Bibby much the way DC did in the past.

The BOTTOM LINE from my seat is he is a vast improvement over Hart and obviously he is benifiting from play time.
 
Actually I like Garcia at the point guard position. He handles it pretty well and has an advantage over short point guards by shooting over them or passing.
 
Anyway that can get this guy on the court is fine by me. He did look capable at the PG spot tonight. Bibby only played 36 minutes and I like that much better than him having to go for 40+ on a nightly basis.
 
Thats how i wanted it when Bonzi came back, even if Cisco doesnt do a whole lot, pushing Hart out of the rotation is good enough for me...
 
I think the real key is Artest. If Artest is out there, can we run he and Garcia with no real point? I think so, for spurts. Without Artest? Eh..not so sure about that. Have seen Cisco picked cleanly a number of times by opposing points this year, and would not be comfortable with him trying to advance against signifcant pressure. I like big points, and it could be a way to get the kid some minutes for the remainder of the year, but doubt we would leave the situation unrectifed through the offseason.

I think that's true on the offensive end. If Ron isn't out there, then I could see a lot of traps being sent Garcia's way.

But I think the other reason it worked somewhat last night was that Martin was on the floor to guard the opposing point (Watson or Boykins) and did a decent job. I think Cisco will continue to develop his decision making and passing, but his lateral speed is not good enough to defend point guards on a regular basis.

That being said, I like the fact that Rick not only brought in the two youngsters togehter, but played them WITH Ron. I hope he continues to utilize that rotation.

I agree with funkykingston, the key is having Martin out there to guard opposing points. And really, with Martin's ballhandling he and Cisco could share point duties even if Artest isn't in the game. But there probably needs to be some combo of Martin/Cisco/Artest in order for it to work.
 
Cisco at times played the point for the Ville last year (Dean was and is more of a 2 guard). His ballhandling looks to be much improved, and if he is pressured, he sees the court well enough that we will capitalize. The nice thing about Cisco, is that he really is willing to pass up a scoring opportunity for himself (shouldn't have passed up the shot from the corner in the 4th), so that someone else can get a better shot. He is an unselfish player who sees the court well, and most importantly, he makes everyone around him better. Regardless of his personal statistics on a given night, the Kings DO play better when he is on the floor. His attitude (much like Artest) can be infectious.
 
You all make good points, I think these are the keys:

1. The less time we have to play Jason Hart the better

2. RA will establish a solid 8/9 man rotation that will include the 5 starters obviously with Cisco, Martin, SAR or Thomas, and on some nights Skinner/Corliss coming off the bench. There is no need to play 10 to 11 guys a night.

3. The more time we have to play Ron Artest the better

I don't think Skinner is ever coming off the bench :D
 
Bottom-line ...

Like you Hndsmcelt, I feel much more confident with the ball in Garcia's hands then Hart's.

Garcia is still making ROOKIE MISTAKES, but that's to be expected. More minutes and crunch-time minutes will IMPROVE that tremendously.
 
I loved what I saw last night with the guard rotation. Either Garcia or Kevin was rotating in and playing point, never had to bother with Jason Hart.
 
i like either cisco or martin playing back up point. both of our youngsters are blossoming well. i hope petrie doesn't move them

I think those are 2 guys that are staying. We aren't just rebuilding our starting lineup, we are rebuilding our bench. In both scenario's we are figuring out what works and what doesn't, and they'll get rid of the rest.
 
All this after one game? :)

I'm thinking Ron may not be the only manic-depressive associated with the Kings... ;)
 
At the rate Cisco and Kevin are improving, and with their obvious athletic skills, Adelman has a lot of options. They will continue to improve, as well as the Kings, throughout the season. It's all good.
 
One very obvious change - CONFIDENCE .. (a little off the topic)

With Wells coming back, Artest proving he can STILL ball and Rahim improving with each game ....

Last night could be the start of taking steps towards fulfilling Artest's prediction of MAKING THE PLAYOFFS.

Artest said in one of his many interviews, that he MADE THAT PREDICTION in hopes it would change the attitude of the rest of the King's.
 
The two youngsters did play well together. I'm usually dumbstruck by Adelman's rotations but those guys sharing backcourt duties really seemed to show a lot of promise. I really was looking forward to seeing Ronnie P. getting some good minutes w/ Hart out but you can't argue with a well deserved "W"!

Agreed. Bench right now, starters in a (few) year(s)?
 
Maybe in the future, but for now he simply turns the ball over too much to give him point duties.
 
i feel with what the two kids have shown us thus far you have to get them both minutes in the game. With Kev in at 2 and Garcia at 3 thats not enough minuets for both of them. But you throw in the point minutes betweeen them you could get a good 15 min a game out of both and with KT getting the 4 and 5 min they could grow more as a unit of the 3 without Hart soiling it up. they all 3 are athletic and like to run the floor. that is what you need off your bench.
 
I'll bet Adelman and the coaches have already figured this out. Look for Cisco and Kevin to be playing alternative positions, thus giving Bibby a bit more rest.
