Gamer Alert: Favorite video games?

Looking for great RPG games. Loved "Morrowind" and "Baldur's Gate II."
Another oldie I was hooked on was "Diablo II." Any suggestions on newer games? Or, feel free to post your all-time favorites.
I figured since video game sales have now surpassed movie box office takes, there must be somebody out there with an interest?????:D

Daiblo II was a favorite here as well. I don't know if you have tried Dungeon Siege yet - a very simplified RPG-type game that while less demanding "intellectually" was a blast to play. DS II incorporated a few more elements that made you think, but basically kept the fun coming as well.

I tend to gravitate more to the FPS and RTS games myself, but LOVED the games mentioned above.

aren't these computer games :p ;)

While Mario and Sonic are videogames.

Diablo 2 was like a drug, you'd look up at the clock and then all the sudden it would be 4AM. That's why I quit after my 2nd year of HS. Playing those games affects the same part of the brain that makes us want to gamble. I still have a friend who spends his entire day off playing World of War Craft.

My top ten:

Samurai Showdown 2
WWF Wrestlemania 2000
Final Fantasy 6
Megaman 2
WCW vs nWo Revenge
Marvel vs Capcom 2
NBA Live 2K2 (Dreamcast)
Megaman X5
NBA Jam
Legend of Zelda 3: A Link to the Past

I'm there! "Morrowind" was incredible. "Oblivion" here I come.:D

Make sure you have the system to run it -- its ridiculously beautiful, and I still don't understand how they can be so far ahead of any other game I've ever seen when it comes to seamless giant world. But to make it really hop you need some serious power.

If you're an FPS fan and have been out of the loop for a while, might want to give Fear a shot. Again with warnings about needing a modern system.

Agree on "Dungeon Siege" series. Enjoyable RPGs. Guess, there's no word on a "Diablo III" - yet. Thanks for the input!

I've got a new gamer system with a ton of horsepower. I'll check into Fear, too. One that is being reviewed now by gamer reviewers is "S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernoby." Lots of mutants to microbit. However, I prefer a Barbarian's war axe over a laser. ;)

I tried the demo and wasn't really impressed.

I like the Half-Life series, and the Unreal Tournament games are a blast for run-n-gun. :D I still have fond memories of the original Unreal, oh man what a blast.

Original Half-Life multiplayer was like a drug, used to drag my computer to a friend's house every Friday night and stay up til who-knows-when playing it on his network. We threw in a little Need for Speed for variety. ;)

I never play internet games, as I can't really schedule time to do so and when I do play it's often for 15 minutes, then I pause the game to do something, then come back for half an hour, etc. I also refuse to pay monthly fees once I buy something to play.

I got Company of Heroes as a gift and after a bit of a learning curve really enjoyed playing. Didn't quite finish yet. Now I want to try the C&C 3 demo.....Generals / Zero Hour was just too addictive as well.

I've played way too many games to list a definite favorite, but I love Oblivion (I got it for the XBox 360). I spent a good 70 hours on it and its expansion (Shivering Isles) since I bought it at the end of March. The game features a monstrous amount of content and replay value and has more polish than most games out there.

My favorite game for the system is Dead Rising though, where else can you fight hordes of undead people with a water gun?

I only made room for ten, and No Mercy is, personally, only my third-favorite of the four (World Tour, Revenge, 2000, No Mercy).
What do you prefer about Revenge?

Personally I like 2000 a little better than No Mercy in some respects but I'd still give NM the edge. Many people still think its the best wrasslin game ever although I'm equally fond of the Firepro games. I don't understand why THQ refuses to us AKI for the current generation of games.

I'm a big sports gamer, looking forward to 2K sports doing football again this year. Also a huge fan of their college hoops games.

My favorite game at the moment is Guitar Hero although when Forza 2 comes out that may change.

Yeah, make sure you can run Oblivion on settings good enough to at least make the game enjoyable. I play it on 360. I was a massive Diablo II player, and I absolutely love this game. All my other X360 games are picking up dust because I just bought it about 3 weeks ago. Only drawback is that it's only single player.

What do you prefer about Revenge?
What I prefer about Revenge can be summed up in four words: Kim Chee and La Parka

No Mercy has a better storyline mode, but I never play that game by myself, so I don't care about the storyline mode. Revenge and 2000 both have superior Versus modes, which is all that matters to me.

Ok, that actually makes sense. I don't recall playing NM with anyone, I could get my brother to play the others at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I spent a lot of time playing alone and making custom wrestlers. Guitar Hero is pretty much the only thing my wife and friends will play with me in the same room.

I think that is why I loved Forza so much, I would make a lot of custom cars and then I could actually take them online to show them off.

I guess I'll add some of my favorites

Mario 64 (I agree with last post, nintendo knows how to make epic/timeless games that)
Mario Kart
The Legend of Zelda (twilight princess, Both N64 Zelda's)
Resident Evil (all of them, 4 is my favorite)
WWF No Mercy
Soul Calibur 2
NBA Live
Street Fighter

Star Control 2, aka The Ur-Quan Masters. Given it's old. It's also one of those games that's mentioned about when people talk about the greatest game ever made.

It's also been released to the public domain.
