Then perhaps the "Game Ball" thread should be a poll and people could actually record their vote...

I feel a little proprietary about the "any questions" thread. I started it the night Webber came back and lit up Arco like a Christmas tree. From that point on, it's been a way to show appreciation for one player who stepped up and performed what I thought to be above and beyond all reasonable expectations, at least for that night. I won't give it up without a fight...

Keep both threads! I love the "any questions" thread. They are similar, but different. The any qustion thread is more forcefull and to the point, like "see!", whereas this is more of a, who do you think did best.

Keep both! Keep both! Keep both!

I give the game ball to ME. So there.

The Kings just about lost this one until I politely reminded the basketball gods that they don't lose when I'm there.

It simply DOES NOT happen.

35 seconds later...

If those in charge of handing out said game ball would like to contact me, I'll gladly provide shipping instructions.
Oops! I had originally posted a picture of a game basketball, dated 3/20/03. Unfortunately, I forgot it had profanity on it.

My bad.

Well, I removed the picture but it sure doesn't mean I didn't agree with the sentiment.

Maybe Pixel Pusher can do the magic and PG-fy the picture so it can be used on the forum. It's a classic (the pic) so we shouldn't give it up so easily/ ;)

VF don't think that I'm trying to steal your thunder. I love the any ?'s thread(s). And they should continue in lieu of the game ball thread.

The idea of the game ball is that it is for ONE King player who our forum members think was the difference-maker. That means if the game is tied late, and Jason Hart makes an incredible steal and drives to make a layup that puts us ahead and clearly gave us the advantage to win then he could get it (not likely Jason would be in late in a game but you get the idea). Or if someone had a good overall game then they could get it too.

The any ?'s threads are limited to those players who have great overall games. The game ball can go to a player for even one moment. I might have given my game ball to Brian Skinner for stuffing Shawn Marion when we played the suns in their home.

I like the idea of making a poll, because I already thought about it, but then that means members would have to trust my decision making for setting the poll choices. So if I get up to go to the bathroom, I might miss a potential recipient for a game ball. But if that is what people want, then I can do it.

I might need to repost the idea of the gameball for the first few times that we do it just so members can get an idea of what it is intended for. It isn't supposed to be a discussion. It is supposed to be a single post for who they give their game ball to and maybe why. And of course it is limited to Kings wins.

You can list up to 10 options in a poll, so I don't if you'll have any complaints about not having the right person listed. My advice would be NOT to make any decisions yourself; just list the names of the players who at least played and did SOMETHING and you should be fine. You'll undoubtedly get a couple of smark-alecks who want to skew the poll, but it you make it a public poll, where their votes are visible, that shouldn't be a problem.

;)

As far as it not being a discussion, good luck.

EVERYTHING around here is open to discussion and debate. You might intend for it to be a single post but don't be surprised if it takes a tangent and ends up with some pretty good discussions on some nights. Look at the grade thread. There are nights when it becomes the most active thread on the board - and it's one of the biggest reasons people come back time after time after time.

My 2 cents... I love the "any questions thread" and I think this new thread is fun too. I would give the game ball to Mike, he was incredible.... and a golden 6 man ball to the fans at Arco - being there was incredible!
