Woohoo losing streak! Corbin for coach of the year, PDA for GM of the year, Vivek for owner of the century!

Is it just me or does McCallum have at least a morsel of leadership in him? It seems like the team at least plays hard when he is at point.

IMO he just makes it look hard because he's not very good ... Also because when he's at point we're usually out of the game and all our scrubs are out there trying to look good.

Doug Christie might honestly be the last King that consistently executed good post entry passes.
Man, dat laser pass on the back door cut...

I confess. When the Cavs hit +20 I bailed. Life is just too short... and there's no need to start out the weekend on such a low note.

We suck.

I actually watched the whole game. First one in over 2-3 weeks. And I am reminded why I didn't bother over that time.

"Coach Malone definitely had a defensive emphasis," Thompson said. ""Even starting training camp. There's times in training camp where you just want to hoop and stuff like that. But we went to fundamentals like we were in grade school. He really was like, we know we all can score on paper but the way for us to get to the next level is we gotta get stops. It was a grueling process, but when it turned into those early results on a tough schedule that we had, it all paid off."

Where's that from? It makes me very nervous that players are openly praising Malone, for the simple reason I do not want to have to see them leave for doing so.

Sorry. From the CBS news article I quoted from previous poster. http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/25010485

Thanks for the cite.

The last paragraph is the one that gets me:

With each miscommunication, each missed rotation, each disheartening defeat, the Kings' defensive identity becomes a more distant memory. For the first time in more than a decade, Sacramento has an All-Star. Sadly, its dysfunction and defensive issues remain.

It is just too hard to be a giver of ****s right now. We've thrown around the word dumpster fire for a while now... but it really really is one now. A very sad thing.

By the way, I got a robo-call today, Chris Granger exhorting STH to renew.

I think the desperation is deepening at 1 Sports Parkway now. Maybe it is sinking in, slowly and miserably, what they have done to this team and this fan base.

...By the way, I got a robo-call today, Chris Granger exhorting STH to renew.

Whoever thought up robocalls should be forced to listen to them 24 hours a day for eternity. Whoever decided in the front office that now was the time to us robocalls to try and win back STH is truly clueless. I've seen comments from multiple STH who received similar calls - NONE of them were happy about it.

Question for old-timers: Has there ever been a normal Game Thread that only got to 4 pages?

AMAZING, the drop-off in activity.....

BTW - the panic levels in the ticket sales department are going to go much higher within a couple months.
They're going to have to decide whether to really drop prices or have nice cross-promotions to try to sell Kings tickets, because as I predicted - they were playing with fire. The Kings' fanbase was fed up and ready to lose their goodwill after the Lakers loss, and this has all snowballed from their ignorance of that sensation.

Compounding their difficulty is how soft the local economy is, and how few Sacramentans have both the money and the interest to stick it out with a team that now has graduated to shooting themselves in the foot.

They're going to be very reluctant to lower pricing, what with the expensive arena and their hoped-for large ticket prices coming, but I just don't see how their pricing desires are going to work AT ALL with Sac's economy, and the team openly mutinying against the clueless (and likely insulting) management.

There's just nothing to talk about anymore, it's the same crap we have seen for the last 8 years

#We got 2-3 guys taking ridiculous shots they have little to no chance of making....we are basically watching the same team we watched under Keith Smart
#No defense
#Garbage Isolation basketball
#Players given up on the team and the coach
#Mclemore's development has hit a wall since the kid's been frozen out due to selfish play and now he's jacking shots up as well (since he knows he won't get the ball again and not playing D very well
#Our draft pick looks garbage at this point in time (again)
#Same mistakes we have seen for the past 5 years repeating themselves which leads to fans turning off the game half way through.
#There's no new players to provide us with something different to watch (e.g like Reggie Evans last year when he came and give us a small boost)
#There's really no one currently on the team with the way they are playing you would pay to watch.

There's simply nothing to talk about the more thing's change the more they stay the same.

Still watching every Kings game. But I have to agree to KingMilz once again. Kings are getting exposed offensively and defensively. There is no team spirit left and everyone is basically playing for themselves. Cousins leadership has regressed, Gay is even worse. Yes firing Malone really caused a huge drop off in terms of motivation, but at some point one has to ask, if there is something else going on behind the scenes.
At some point the players need to stop talking about playing defense but actually start playing defense once again. At some point PDA needs to admit, that this roster is not good enough to play in the west. At some point Vivek and PDA need to realize, that Corbin is not the solution as a coach.
Right now I'm desperately looking for something to give me hope for the future - a new coach, a trade, a major improvement from Ben or Nik......

I was hoping Quincy Miller could provide us with something different but seems like they are not playing him anymore.

You keep on talking about Cuz's leadership, but if anything, its the great shining light. He has stepped froward about as big as any 24yr old can. he is the one guy talking about defense. About what's wrong. He's talking to guys. The problem is not with his leadership, its with the structure breaking completely down now, and him being asked to do too much. Every night he is doubled, sometimes tripled. He's being positioned outside by Keith Smart 3.0, and efficiency is plummeting. He has to play huge minutes every night, because he can't go to the bench or we quit playing. He's become our #1 passer...but is being asked to pass far far too much for a 270lb center and turnovers are skyrocketing. But make no doubt about it, he's giving about everythign you could ask a young guy to give leadershipwise. The rest of the team is just flatlined though. Darren has no idea. Rudy gives a vague and confused quote every once in awhile. Nobody talks but Cuz. I feel like he's practically having to coach the team right now so rudderless is everybody else.

There have been accusations that the players are only playing for their paychecks. Maybe and maybe not.

That accusation should probably also go to the coach with the same maybe and maybe not. And if so, I can hardly blame him. Why take a tech and take the financial hit when you know your gone? By all appearances, he's playing the role of substitute teacher to the T. The ship isn't rudderless, the rudder just happens to be jammed in one direction.
