I see Mikki Moore as a big man version of Jason Hart. He tries hard and hustles on the court. But at the end, they just simply don't have the talent to amount to much help that the team needs.
I think that typifies a lot of our roster. We have Kevin keeping our score up, Ron keeping our opponent's score down, and thirteen other guys milling around because we're required to have 5 players on the court. Yes, that is an exaggeration, but not by a lot. Too many of our players are a little too one dimensional, or just not quite good enough.
I think that you can get by with a bunch of generic players, as long as you have one who's a monster in the paint, and one that's handing out 7 or 8 assists a game. But our guy in the paint is Justin, and our floor general is... who? Mike, Brad, Ron, and others take turns leading the team for assists, but it's rare for any of them to make more than 4 or 5.
To be an average NBA team, we should be getting 41 rebounds and 21 assists per game. So far this preseason, we're averaging 37.7 and 17.3, which were -4.7 and -6.3 versus our opponents. Maybe there is some mysterious factor which can make us win a lot of games despite that, but I don't know what it is.
Oh well. We may have half the talent of 5 years ago, but at least they're fun to watch again. Until someone can offer definitive proof that Geoff hasn't been replaced by a doppelganger, that may have to do.
