From Indy To SacTown

Best wishes with RonRon. I mean no disrespect to the Kings and all of their fans, but remember the old say, "Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it".

Sac has always been viewed as a great basketball city with a team that has a great reputation. We have alway sfelt the same about Indy, yet now its all changed.

We embraced him with open arms and ignored the rumors that came out of Chicago when he arrived. We forgave him one time after another and listened as he apologized each and everytime. We always gave him a "free pass".

Yet after all of the support provided, including sympathy and tough love, none of it ever registered with him. He will raise expectations in Sac this year as he makes sure he is on his best behaivor. Watch out next season, when the voices in his head talk him into taking that different path. It will be the begining of the end.

Best wishes, I hope Ron has learned his lesson, but his track record already says "no".

Remember, in 49 states, it's just basketball, but this is Indiana! ;)

I appreciate your input, and share your concerns for Sac. Obviously at this point we're aware that while Artest can bring things we need very badly on the court (defense, for example!) he could also bring things that we don't want to deal with.

At this point we're desperately seeking answers & a fix to this team that seems to be self destructing. We'll take a chance on Artest and hope for the best.

Good luck with Peja! We will miss him & hope you enjoy watching him as much as we do.

I'm hoping he behaves himself long enough to get included in a trade with one of the Philly 3 for a true monster of a big man, or draft picks, or whatever a "rehabbed", however temporarily, Artest could get us. I do not for a minute believe that he can control himself for the rest of his existing contract. I pray I am wrong, but I doubt if I am.

That said, I will support him as long as he doesn't blow up and embarass this city and the great fans we have here. I hope for the best, but don't honestly expect it....

As long as we ban the plastic cups at Arco we should be ok :D

Thanks for the good wishes. I can understand where your coming from, but I am not as convinced as you that he can't turn things around. You have to give Adelman and Petrie alot of credit for having delt with disgruntled players with reputations as team cancers extremely well. Webber didn't want to come to Sac and Bonzi had a bad reputation as a team cancer with both Portland and Memphis. Artest's past actions are undeniably more serious, but it still is worth noting. It certainly will be a good test for our team, but no matter how it turns out Peja was probably gone in FA anyway.

I really don't think anyone can "control" , Ron.

Ron is a great player, and a fun player to watch, especially when he has his offense going. I will miss him, and I hope he can help you guys. But, I honestly don't think he will ever change, sadly. We at Indiana gave him a million chances and he would always think of something creative to do, and it wound up hurting us.

I do think, however, that he won't give you major problems this year. But watch out for next year. :(

I honestly hope he can change it around for you guys. Good luck!

The more I hear from Indy fans and visit their boards, etc. the more I see they are really a lot like Kings fans in almost every respect. Classy, educated basketball wise, and above all loyal and fair to their players... That makes me worry even more now.

I think we are quite a bit alike in respects to basketball. The reason I posted, was influenced by what I had read on this board. There are quite a few King fans who are realistic about what you are getting. You hope for the best, but are prepared for the worse. Thoise that think Ron will change are saddly mistaken. Watch how charming and polite he can be. When he apologizes, you believe him, yet a little while later, there he goes again.

There's no doubt that both teams needed to make a move and this trade might have been the best for both teams. Ron will bring an ability to score and defend. He has that uncanny motor like Rodman, where he can go and go. He will make the other players better. When he's right, you guys will feel elated about the trade. It's those other moments that get you. One last note, you can't compare him to Weber or Wells (another fine Indiana basketball talent), they don't have voices that talk to them.
