Blame PDA for that monstrosity. Also, I can recall that most people here were elated that he was gone, even when the kings got NOTHING for him.
Nobody was elated that he was gone. Many posters were rightfully critical of his attitude, which has changed after what happened in Phoenix.
Little bit of revisionist history here.
Very few here were "elated" that IT was gone, and virtually no one was happy we didn't get so much as a bag of chips for him. I'm not going to revisit the debate again, since that poor horse is not only dead but decomposed to the point of being nothing more than dust, but the bottom line is that the IT a lot of us saw while he was a King is not the IT you see in Boston. As pdxKingsFan properly pointed out, his attitude changed between Sacramento, Phoenix and Boston.
My only reservation about Vince Carter would be that he might finally realize just how old he really is when he gets off the plane. (Old fears about jinx and curses die hard.
)i wish we can get porter but that's not likely. Carter would be an ok consolation prize, i suppose...

I think you need one at every position to be honest. I am in the opposite camp. I am more excited by ZeBo signing that Hill simply for the mentoring part. I am excised by what WCS, Giles and especially Skal and Papa can learn from ZeBo. The little tricks playing under the basket, player tendencies....I think its an excellent signing to be honest.
Joerger has a philosophy that I happen to agree with and that is that you need to have a veteran at EVERY position that will make those kids earn the minutes and mentor them along the way. That approach is clear.
When Kings drafted Evans, Cousins, Whiteside and Thomas among others, one thing that they absolutely failed to do is to surround them with the type of veterans that Kings are currently surrounding their youth with now. Players that will be a teacher a mentor and a fried to these kids but will also fight with them for every minute at that position. Finally the Kings have figured out what they need to do to give themselves the best chance possible. Hopefully they have drafted the type of talent that they have done before and now its up to a stable coaching staff who are good at developing the players and the culture and the veterans on the roster to mentor these kids and help them become the best they can be.

Yes I'm quoting my own post.
I had previously sarcastically predicted that if we get Porter and Zbo then we win 50.
Now that we signed Hill and Zbo, if we do indeed get Porter, I am NON SARCASTICALLY predicting a minimum of 45 wins with a shot at 50.
Guys I just have a funny feeling about this Porter thing.

What are you talking about. Who wouldn't jump for joy sending out a player of IT's caliber for nothing+ the rights to nothing? I was throwing a party at kingsfan.com headquarters.
Honestly though, I didn't see him becoming an allstar but worth way more than what we got. I was upset because he was there for us during the relocation saga at meeting etc and we just ship him out for crap. I was pretty pissed about that.

The pseudo-Princeton offense (now with, as we started seeing at the end of the season, servings of the infamous triangle offense thrown in) that Joerger runs is one of the harder systems to master. These things take time and I would rather we bring our guys along slow and steady than throw them to the wolves and hope that they pick up enough of the system on the fly to not burn out of the league in three seasons.

The contract that Phoenix signed him to we should have matched. That is squarely on PDA. I think we all scratched our heads on that one. But let's not forget - IT was p-o'd at us because he felt slighted and that we didn't want him even though a few years before we were literally the only team willing to take a chance on him.What are you talking about. Is brooklyn really that much better? I understand NYC but Brooklyn? I'm not from there so I honestly don't know. NBAwise I understand going east cuz the west is gonna be crazy.
Honestly I'm torn if we should find a SF to start the season or just play mix and match and see if anyone is fit to play in the system.
I still think next year is going to be humbling to our young core and we will land a top 5, but holy crap some people think Hill and Z-Bo alone have pushed us into 8-10 pick territory.

I was thinking that too. Maybe we got the heads up and started looking elsewhere.
They still have a stupid pick swap (or maybe their pick outright) to Boston next year, they took on a bunch of LA's trash for Russell. Since he signed the offer sheet, I guess that means no sign and trade, which means Washington is in the hot seat. My guess is being another east coast team will force their hand to retain him,.

It's not Brooklyn vs. NYC, as much as it's Eastern Conference as opposed to Western Conference.
