For the sake of...sanity?

Ok, I know our season is kableh right now, but we have to acknowledge Martin's growth somehow.

We all know the All-Star voting is a popularity contest, but for crying out loud why on earth does Jerry Stackhouse have 103,307 votes while Martin is nowhere to be seen?

For the sake of freckin "come on now..." can we set aside two minutes a day of our lives and vote for our boy?

While your at it, vote for Jefferson as well.

I've never really paid much attention to the voting... I guess this is how players get their votes, huh? Somehow, I don't think Yao Ming needs this kind of stuff... I might be naive in thinking that though.

I guess in the NBA, absence doesn't make the heart grow fonder!!! Kevin needs to be seen to get votes.

That is actually a prime example of why the voting really doesn't mean much. I'm sure you will acknowledge that the above is basically cheating, and it just so happens that guys playing in larger markets, for more popular teams, are going to have proportionately more people willing to cheat for them.

Kevin Martin was never going to be voted into the All Star game. I said that in the early All Star threads, I say it now. Basically impossible unless somebody invented an even better method of cheating and somehow avoided being caught. And with his injury, odds are very long against him getting in via coaches either -- and they were quite long even with health.

People have noticed Kevin, but that doesn't mean they have forgotten Nash, Kobe, Deron, Paul, Parker, A.I., Baron, TMac...etc. In a truly merit based system in fact, Kevin would not have a single vote. If we ever get good again, and If Kevin can maintain his current level of production, there will be at least an occasional All-Star berth for him. He;s pretty one dimensional, but then again, so was Peja, so was Rashard Lewis. Those type of guys are not going to be perennials, but often get added in in those 10th, 11th, 12th poisitions if there teams are doing well and generating some excitement.

I, too, have "cheated" and voted numerous times for Kevin Martin at the games I've attended.

I don't know if he'll make it to the game or not but at least he'll know his Sacramento fans (and others) wanted to show him some love.

It must be something about Mavs fans. Come on, Erick Dampier, who is only averaging 18 mpg and 4.5 points per game, is getting over three times as many votes as Chris Kaman, who is averaging 18 ppg, 13 rpg, and 3 blocks per game. That is pure robbery, and I've got to feel sorry for Kaman on that one.

Jerry Stackhouse, who comes off the bench, has more votes than Ray Allen? Jason Terry, who recently fell into a shooting slump, has more votes than Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker?

The funny thing is that Shane Battier, of all people, and Lamar Odom have more votes than Josh Howard. Hmm...

well...Yao's fans support the Rockets and the Laker fans...well, they'd vote for Bynum if he was on the roster

Not to change the topic of this thread, but I vaguely recall somebody saying Bynum was a scrub center not too long ago...so much for scrub.

It's simple.
The Mavs have more fans then the Kings right now.

When voting for the West, I always vote for the entire Kings roster. Thats whats happening right now.

Seriously.
When you have the best offensive player in the entire league drawing triple teams, its pretty easy to get wide open under the basket.

Coulda fooled me, now teams are zoning him on the strong side and doubling him on the weak side and fouling him Shaq style when either plan fails. The crowding around him limits his touches. He's not wide open by any means.

Bynum is very impressive this year no doubt, this guy is gonna be scary in no time at all, now i see why they didnt trade him for Kidd.
