I cannot believe i'm admitting this but everytime i hear that horrid song "We Built This City On Rock'n'Roll" I flashback to that Kings' team video that was made back after the end of their first year in Sacramento It was like their theme song or something. It was "cool & rad" for the times I supposed, but man, what where we thinking!? Do you remember?! It was so the 80's. I wish i could get my hands on that video for my collection. Reggie Theus was the man back then!!!

:D

Reggie!!!! My first favorite player - and still in the top 3 of all time.

It was good back then. What were we thinking? We were thinking how good it was to have a team we could call our own and not having to hitch a ride on one of the Bay Area sports teams.

I remember driving all the way out there - thinking I must have taken a wrong turn somewhere because I was almost in Woodland - and seeing the old building for the first time. It didn't look that special from the outside, but I swear I heard angels singing the first time I walked through those doors. And you know what? I still get that feeling every time I go to Arco now...

I LOVE THIS TEAM!!!!!

"built this city" is such an awesome song. ive never seen that video, i wasnt quite born yet. someone find a link to that, would be sweet

Ya what a horrid song. We have much better music now. <--- Being very very sarcastic.

Hey, I remember that spoof for the Kings they did of Whodini's 'The Freaks come out at Night'....'The Kings come out at Night'. THAT would be great to get a hold of. ;) Pure comedy!

A link?? Um...that was before the internet, my friend.

You're old? I remember when they were Jefferson Airplane and Grace Slick wore gold body paint on stage at the Fillmore in San Francisco...

...sigh...

^^ Mind you, I wasn't in high school yet...but they came to my school, nonetheless. (It was a FEW years before I attended.);)

Yeah! Now, I feel younger.

ah the 80's..one hit wonder years, but we were never bored by our music selection...

Who were The Specials?

Jefferson Airplane
Jefferson Starship
Starship.... good in their own ways..

and for those who need the lyrics...

We Built This City (On Rock and Roll)
originally by Starship

Say you don't know me
Or recognize my face
Say you don't care who goes
To that kind of place
Knee deep in the hoopla
Sinking in your fight
Too many runaways
Eating up the night

While Tony plays the mamba
Listen to the radio
Don't you remember
We built this city
We built this city on rock and roll

We built this city
We built this city on rock and roll
Built this city
We built this city on rock and roll

Someone always playing
Corporation games
Who cares they're always changing
Corporation names
We just want to dance here
Someone stole the stage
They call us irresponsible
Write us off the page

While Tony plays the mamba
Listen to the radio
Don't you remember
We built this city
We built this city on rock and roll

We built this city
We built this city on rock and roll
Built this city
We built this city on rock and roll

It's just another Sunday
In a tired old street
Police have got a chokehold
But we just lost the beat

Who counts the money
Underneath the bar
Who rides the wrecking ball
Into our guitars
Don't tell us you need us
'Cause we're the ship of fools
Looking for America
Crawling through your schools
Don't you remember

While Tony plays the mamba
Listen to the radio
Don't you remember
We built this city
We built this city on rock and roll
We built this city
We built this city on rock and roll
Built this city
We built this city on rock and roll
Built this city
We built this city on rock and roll
Built this city
We built this city on rock and roll

Who were The Specials?

Maybe they never made it across the pond...a british group from 1980.

Two big hits over here...'A message to you Rudy' and 'Too much too young'.

The gendre was known as twotone ska. If you missed it , you missed out !!

Hey, thanks for the lyrics Prophetess. I read them and now the song is stuck in my head again!! I need an aspirin!!

I was there then and I don't remember them. maybe I would if I heard them, what were their songs in UK? Wait, did they do Ghost Town? If that's them they were good.

I could think of worse songs then We built this city.

I was older than that and it's all I'm saying but it was definitely a good year. Best of my life.

I was out of high school; had already served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force; had already been married...and divorced; and, I think I had better stop there before I really get carried away.

Yes, because Sacramento finally got a pro sports team, I would say it was an excellent year.
