Mike and I spoke with John Dangberg (Assistant City Manager who gives the arena updates, etc.) after the meeting tonight and we got some pretty interesting info from him.
The negotiations have been with the NBA, not MSE/Kings, since well before Orlando. MSE is kept "up to date" but make no mistake, the NBA is running the show right now. Stern is the man in command.
This is comforting. Combine this with the nearly immediate $200K upfront from the league, and I truly believe the league wants this deal to go through. And realistically, a solid bloc of support for Stern at the BOG could end this Maloofian Nightmare once and for all. Maybe we should get t-shirts that say #15Owners.

The parts of the agreement about AEG and the Kings splitting the predevelopment costs and the Kings reimbursing AEG if the deal falls through was negotiated PRIOR to the meeting in Orlando, not while they were there. It was an agreed-upon item, not something "sprung" upon them while they were there.
There was never any discussion about "unresolved items" in Orlando. These items came up after those meetings were over and everyone had a smiley face from reaching a deal.
I am shocked, SHOCKED!, to find that the Maloofs have been disingenuous in this case.
The City really appreciates #FANS coming to meetings and sharing the truth about the deal instead of just letting the CAVE/STOP/MoveOn folks just bash stuff all the time. We could use more folks showing up! Contact Mike for more info.
We're making a difference. If you're reading this and you want a new arena in Sacramento, step up to the plate. Mike will have the details but I imagine we will be back in two weeks, first meeting after the NBA BOG. Come on down and throw your shoulders behind us in support of the arena. It makes a difference.
