Jul 22 - The Clippers have talked to the Grizzlies about a trade for guard Bonzi Wells, the Los Angeles Times reports. Memphis holds an $8-million option on Wells' contract, and wants to trade him before they have to decide whether to exercise it or waive him. Said Wells' agent, William Phillips. "I know that (the Clippers) have room under the [salary] cap to sign him, and I know that they've also talked to Memphis about a trade."
According to the Commercial Appeal, at least seven teams -- Boston, Dallas, Washington, Sacramento, Detroit, Utah and the Clippers -- have expressed interest. And team president Jerry West is reportedly close to a deal, with the Kings and Clippers believed to be the strongest suitors.

"They have a lot of interest in Bonzi," Phillips said of the Kings in the Sacramento Bee. "They are letting us know that every day."
