Another violation of the NBA's drug policy will prevent Clifford Robinson from playing in the remainder of the New Jersey Nets' playoff series against the Miami Heat.

Robinson The league announced on Friday that the veteran forward has been suspended five games for violating the terms of the anti-drug program.
The suspension will begin with Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series between the Nets and Heat. The best-of-seven series is tied at one game apiece.
Robinson was suspended five games for violating the league's anti-drug policy in February 2005 as a member of the Golden State Warriors. Later in the month, he was traded to the Nets for a pair of second-round picks.

Oh good lord. In the middle of the playoffs? He's nearly 40! Not some idiot kid.

And that may just end his career too. What a dummy.

Man, I would of never even thought of this guy to get into this stuff... blow to him and the Nets.

Seem to recall he might have smoked pot back during his Blazers days, but not entirely sure.

Perhaps the Warriors knew something the Nets didn't? Check that. Perhaps the entire world knew something the Nets didn't...

Is there some corralation between great D and weed?

Man. This is how he goes out? Who would want to resign a guy on the brink of suspension?

Such a great defender. Even now. Darn shame.

I agree but if this is his second offense, shouldn't he have a harsher penalty than he did the first time?

Dumb Cliff THIS IS THE PLAYOFFS. Not practice, not the regular season, not the preseason, THE PLAYOFFS. Well now we have one less person to guard Mr. O'meal.

The NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement has always been pretty lenient on weed. I don't think anything would have changed.

the NBA is SOOO lenient on weed I didn't even know you could get penalized for it. I think this suspension may have to do more with the Class A drugs (cocaine possibly)

No, this is weed. Class A stuff would have him suspended like the Birdman. It's possible he got popped for some kind of minor prescription drug, but they would probably have a hearing for like Ricky Williams did.

Maybe he's using it for medicinal purposes for all the aching his old body must be experiencing  :p

Stupid move though, hopefully the Nets can do it without him
