ESPN: Kwame signs with Pistons

Kwame Brown's search for another fresh start is taking him back to the Eastern Conference.
Brown's agent, Mark Bartlestein, told ESPN.com on Monday night that the former No. 1 overall pick in the 2001 draft has reached a verbal agreement on a new contract with the Detroit Pistons.

Too bad, I loved Memphis's short-lived all-bust Darko/Kwame frontline. They ruined the (Rudy and Kevin) Gay-Love era in Memphis too. After the Gasol debacle, they could at least done something for the rest of us NBA fans...

Not really. That's less than the MLE for a veteran big man. I know he's a bum, but he's a big bum signing with a team that needs size.

And I'm glad we won't be trading for Jason Maxiell, also. I like the way he plays, but I don't want to see us signing or trading for anymore undersized power forwards or centers.

hardly. kwame's still relatively young, is big, and a very good defender. 4 mil a year @ 2 years for a backup center is pretty good.

he got about 5 and 5 at under 20 minutes a game last year. mikki more (5 mil a year for 3 years, last year partially guaranteed) gets 30 minutes, and produces 8.5, and 6.

id rather have kwame and his contract than mikki and his.

Also comparatively speaking, I'd rather have Kwame at $4 million per for two years than DeSagana Diop at $6 million for five years.
