ESPN Article about the student-athlete tragedy in Willows, CA

Wow, talk about being out of the loop. I grew up in Orland. I agree with Kennadog, well-written and touching.

I actually have a niece in that class at Willows... compared to my High School experience, hers was like jumping from tragedy to tragedy... an insane experience for her.

Not to compare tragedies, but we lost 7 people while I was in high school -- several of whom I knew well (2 off my football team, 1 off my soccer team, another exchange student friend), and 2 more within 2 years of graduation (including anohter of my football teammates). It was the source of a lot of morbid jokes. I think all were car related however, and scattered through the various classes.

I think there were, what, 120 kids in that class... we had a similar class size and we lost 1 student in a vehicle accident and that was about average for each class.
