Well I got the impression that the only non-guaranteed contracts were Moreland (who became guaranteed around July 1) and Stockton who becomes guaranteed for the year in December
by my count we have 16 contracts if we include Moreland and Stockton, so at the end of training camp if we let all the camp invitee's go we would still have to trim one roster spot?
So the options are
A Waive Stockton (no guarantee)
B Waive Dukan (pay 1st year guarantee $525k)
C Waive Moreland (pay whatever substantial guarenteed amt is)
If a player has a guaranteed contract like Dukan can we leave him off the 15 man roster and pay him
the 525k to play in reno? Or is it a max 15 contracts?
I love this. We were thin on full sized front court players so Vlade made the sensible move; bring back Eric Moreland. 4 out of 5 big men on our roster are paint/rim protectors.
I think the final cut will be Stockton. Nothing is guaranteed on his contract, and because of his size, I just don't see him making it as an NBA player. I don't question his heart or desire, just his physical ability. Dukan got a two year contract, so I don't think the Kings had any doubt about retaining him. If they did they wouldn't have given him a guaranteed contract. Yes we could waive him, but we would still have to pay him. I think the final cut, barring either Dukan or Curry playing terrible in training camp will come down between Moreland and Stockton. If it's my choice, I'm keeping Moreland.
