Enough Is Enough!

This team is an absolute joke and has no direction whatsoever. I must say that I'm used to losing, I'm a Sacramento Kings, Oakland Raiders, and San Francisco Giants fan. However even with my teams in bad shape I always watch them, in fact I look forward to watching every game...until now. This is truthfully the worst Kings team I have ever seen, that includes the powder blue era.

There is nothing to look forward to here. This year's draft class is one of the poorest in years (which is why it wouldn't surprise me to get the #1 pick), I believe our margin of defeat is the largest in the league, our interim coach continues to give DNPs or garbage minutes to our young players while the vets like Miller, Moore, and BJax log big minutes, and we run the same old system around Brad Miller that we did years ago and got us nowhere.

This is another wasted season, what have we really accomplished over past few years? Let's see...

With Musselman: I suppose Martin started to develop pretty well but that's about it.

With Theus Year 1: Martin developed into a borderline All-Star, I think that's about it.

Current Year: Spencer has developed into a solid starter, unfortunately he comes off the bench or starts out of position to make room for the great Brad Miller.

My question is why make this another wasted year? We don't need to wait until the end of the year to hire a new coach. Let the new guy come in with a new system and give him the rest of the year to implement it with the young players. We will probably lose bad at first but that's not different from what's happening now.

Miller, Moore, and Salmons need to go at the trade deadline. Spencer and Thompson need to start, they have the ability and they need a chance to see how good they can become. Greene needs major minutes off the bench and that won't happen with Salmons starting, the Kings play better with Salmons on the bench anyway.

With a new coach, a new system tailored to our young players and not to our vets who won't be here in two years, big minutes for the youngsters, and hopefully some nice cap space for this offseason (we won't be able to lure a big name after 2009-10) should be the recipe for a true rebuild.

We've had 3 years of waiting with minimal progress, there is no reason to keep this circus around.

Well, I know the current situation, but I'm going to hold to my thoughts on this. We need to get the monkey off this team's back. The monkey(s) are certain contracts that are hanging around.

If there is a trade/package deal that we can create that will bring someone back that the Kings front office believes will be an integral piece in the rebuild that the Kings are currently going through, then I'm all for it. If there is a package deal that will make Millers and/or Thomas's contract effectively disappear at the end of this year versus the end of next year, I'm all for it. Other than that, hang on to the guys we have.

Why make moves just to make moves? To shake up the team, becaues it's not going well? Ok, but in the process you may saddle the team with more long term middle of the road contracts. That's partly what's gotten this team in trouble in the last few years.

So, if none of the deals that I'm for can happen, then we wait. At the end of this year Moore's salary is only guaranteed for half the year. Possibly you cut him after we draft another big, or we draft another big and we hold onto more until his salary is not guaranteed and then we dump him.

At the end of this season Williams and Douby go away. At the end of 2010 Miller and Thomas go away. Possibly we can trade Salmons and Beno for something more useful for what this team needs towards the end of 2010. Bjax will be retired at that point as well. So we're talking about by that time 5 players at a minimum will disappear due to contracts running out without resigning them, and or retirement. With the possibility of possibly two more being traded if we can find a good package that brings someone back that makes sense for this team.

At that point you would only have Bobby Brown possibly, Spencer Hawes, Donte Green, Jason Thompson, Kevin Martin and Francisco Garcia from this team possibly. That's assuming none of them are moved in any sort of package trade. It is for this reason that I say if we can get an intengral piece for the future, or make salary's disappear in 09 versus 10, then we don't make any moves.

we are not the Lakers/Celtics/Spurs.....we are in a longggggggg rebuilding stage. there is no quick fix. its prob got 1 more rough year after this one.

Then remember the jazz playoffs......alot of one and dones.....getting playoff seasoned will take awhile also.

I'm with Jerichoholic on this one--I share your frustration, brother. This Kings team is absolutely abysmal. I'm frustrated by the lack of talent, but I'm embarrassed by the lack of effort. It's pathetic when every opposing team's commentators on NBA League Pass remark on the lack of help defense the Kings fail to provide for one another in the paint. I think these guys forget what they are getting paid sometimes, truly.

I'm aligned with the idea that the Kings should purge themselves of every veteran contract they have other than Kevin Martin's, if at all possible, as soon as possible--even for nothing in return if need be. The Kings have absolutely zero in the department of useful veterans that could bring back any value whatsoever in a trade, with the exception of Salmons. They should go into full salary dump mode for every veteran on the roster.

I'd be disappointed if anyone other than Martin, Hawes, Thompson, Greene, Brown, or Garcia is with the team next year.

This is by far the worst product this organization has ever put on the court since moving to Sacramento. This rebuilding effort needs to go into overdrive, pronto.

Well, if the strategy of keeping the vets over the young guys is still around post trade deadline then we have something to worry about but until then we're on the right track in terms of getting high draft position and building around that. Yes, this year happens to be a poor draft class, but it's better than being mediocre and having the 13th overall pick in this draft as opposed to a top 3 pick. The point is, they're showing they want to rebuild through the draft; if they trade Salmons and Miller, and start playing the young guys then we're doing the most we possibly can.

I share your thoughts. I think we need to clean house and get rid of Moore, Salmons, Miller, and Beno. I think Miller is one of my main worries, and here is why. Everyone knows Miller helps Martins game its obvious, thats why alot of us don't want to get rid of him until his contract is up. My worry is by that time Martin will be in his prime and will not know how do play without a passing center guiding his every step. We need to get Martin acclamated to making his own shots NOW.

Or, maybe, he isn't as good at doing that and you work to his strengths if that aspect of his game doesn't get as developed for whatever reason. Crazy idea, I know. But Hawes can pass as well, so there is a future with that style of play here if we pursue it....

And he can develop his own shot, at least better than his first couple years in the league. He'll keep working on it.

How weird. I woke up this morning and was going to go on the board to vent my frustrations out and look, someone started the thread for me. I feel 100% the same as Jerichoholic! I'm starting to miss the days of the "powder blue" era!
