Video of the whole incident would be nice. It's obviously a bad look that "black man thrown out while white woman gets away with it", however if he was using profanities at a mother or her children I don't care if she heckled back as he was removed. As long as they didn't lay hands on him or physically harm him and the leaving was peaceful, you break the code of conduct I think its either one strike or zero tolerance. For calling a woman a b* in a high profile section - yeah, that's a zero tolerance in my book. Maybe you get away with it in the 200s or one strike. Cameras can pick that up and the national media/NBA also have been fighting hard to keep bad language off TV mics.

But I'd really like to see what actually happened before completely passing judgement - but throwing both out is option #2 here.

Also if he really said something about spend more money/buy better seats to someone second row of courtside that is 1) always lame but 2) stupid AF because almost anyone courtside is connected.

In all my years, dating back to arco 1, I’ve never really seen any issues, never even hear people cuss actually . But the above story made me laugh. I was at a game last year and I stood to celebrate a dunk (for literally a second) and this older gentleman behind me got so pissed and started yapping at me. I am very cognizant of not standing at games and obstructing fans views so respectfully told him I was just standing for one exciting play and we don’t need to turn this into a thing. it wasn’t that big of a deal to me and I certainly wasn’t going to get into it with a senior citizen lol. He ended up chatting me up later and everything was fine.

It’s pathetic that this is what these guys are fixating on. And it appears that if this guy did his homework before writing this piece, he would have noted there are quite a few accounts from folks that maybe Earl wasn’t acting very respectfully himself. He also got physical with head of security. Anyone is getting tossed for that on top of calling a woman a B

I had tickets in row L behind the visitors bench back in the mid 90's.

Rony Seikaly was being heckled. He turned around and yelled Suck my ****.

Funny thing about this is that, generally speaking, fans are very respectful of those who are sitting around them. I've really never had any issues standing and cheering my team, even if I have found myself cheering for the "road" team, which has been the case a handful of times, I must admit. Your incident, in my honest opinion, may have just been one where the older gentleman got caught up in all of the excitement of being at a game and watching his team - a lot of fans are like this, even myself. So I get it. Which is also why I believe he came around eventually, and chatted it up with you.

Way back in the old days I had access to courtside seats and I've been lucky enough to get them a few times at Blazers games, honestly I've never felt compelled to stand in them except maybe in the excitement of a single spectacular play because you've got the best view in the house. Kings were not going to the playoffs in any of these years though. I'm pretty sure Spike Lee isn't allowed to do his thing anymore. Maybe we have to blame truly unruly fans for limits on what feels like acceptable conduct or maybe we were being jerks before and are being held to a higher standard. Regardless of how he may have been treated, it sure feels like E-40 expected celebrity treatment. Maybe there was bias involved but maybe he also felt angry at being treated like any other fan would have been (going back to his social media post where he point out his success and accolades. Nobody likes a "do you know who I am?"

This is an interesting question - there is certainly more leeway given here. We've seen players (Russ is notorious) get fans ejected for heckling, but I don't think I've seen anyone tossed for badmouthing the officials. Of course if an official doesn't like a fan he could just make more bad calls against their team which seems a far greater punishment than getting bad fan tossed.

We also know the NBA is really irritated with crowd chants (F You Ref) but when it's an entire arena good luck.

Lol I go to concerts frequently and once in awhile see or experience run-ins with those "sit down the whole time police". I'm glad he calmed down. Once at a Kings) Warriors game at their home court I got real mad at a bunch of fans who were constantly getting up to buy more beers, thus obstructing our view a lot. That was it for me with any issues at games. But I saw a lot like you said. I went to a ton of Monarchs games and there was never any type of bad behavior at those. Very family-friendly.

Ha. My parents tix are center court row E, but they are directly in the middle . I absolutely hate having to get in and out to get beer or go to the bathroom. And then factoring in that the rows feel WAY more narrow now at golden 1, it’s a colossal pain in the ass lol. Sometimes if the end row seats are empty I just opt to sit there

Imo the row spacing at g1c is borderline dangerous. As a building designer I dont know how they got away with it. It must be the absolute minimum clearances.

Personally I wont sit upstairs. Too dangerous and too much of a hassle if anyone wants to come or go.

imo too much has been made about the upper seating. It ain’t that bad. You’re there for a few hours, max, not living there.

And the way it’s designed helps with the crowd noise we’re known for.

Glad it's behind them. Very curious what the resolution may have been. The gay couple that is alleging discrimination refused a 25k offer from the team earlier this year and this story got WAAAAAY more attention.
