Draft Yi! - 2 yr. Rebuild Plan (Would this work?)

OvechKiN

G-League
Honestly, if he is available at #10, we should take him!
and if we have to, we should trade up to get him.

Trade 1:
Trade Garcia + 2nd round this year + 2nd round next year + Kenny Thomas for Theo Ratliff
(trading for another bad contract to get rid of KT's, but have to throw in some value because KTs deal is much longer)

Trade 2:
Yi + Artest + Bibby to Houston for McGrady
(Houston falls in the 1st round once again after leading in the series. This is the 2nd team that McGrady has not been able to take to the 2nd round.
Yi + Yao would provide such a big market in the asian community in the states and overseas. Profits alone would be worth the deal for Houston. Bibby and Artest would easily be starters on that squad)

Trade 3:
1st rounder '08 (Top 5 most likely in a deep draft) + Brad Miller + SAR + 1st in '09
for Kevin Garnett
(One more year of failure and KG wants out. 2 high 1st rounders and Miller + SAR at a discounted rate may be able to do it?)

Move 4:
Sign Morris Peterson

Ronnie Price / Quincy Douby
Kevin Martin / Mo Pete
Tracy McGrady / John Salmons
Kevin Garnett
Theo Ratliff / Justin Williams

Comments? Im bored and probably dreaming, but any comments would be nice,

First fly in the ointment? The Kings don't have a second round draft pick this year. The 39 pick, which would have been ours, belongs to Orlando via Utah.

Second problem? I seriously doubt if Houston is going to get rid of McGrady for Bibby and Artest.

Third problem? You cannot trade away consecutive first round picks in the same deal.

While I understand the allure to try and get McGrady and Garnett, that's not rebuilding. That's shuffling. And you gave away our draft picks for the next few years (which you cannot do anyway but even if you could I cannot imagine anyone doing it).

...any comments would be nice,

don't count on it :)

Seriously... none of it is feasable.. and for what it's worth I would not give up Artest+Bibby+Yi for McGrady anyway. I'm an Artest lover and a Bibby lover and a Yi lover and a McGrady not lover.

If the Kings could simply pick up Yi and shed KT without doing much else, our troubles are largely over as far as I'm concerned. We'd still be stuck with Brad but that would be the only real problem and sharing the frontcourt with 7' stud like Yi would maybe be ok for Brad. Yi, Miller, Artest, Martin, Bibby - I will run that squad out there all day and expect to do very well. I'm of the strong opinion that if we fix the frontcourt, we fix everything (having already shed the bad coach).

jmho and I am lately very much out of the mainstream so take it with a grain of salt.

I think we need to get rid of atleast one of Artest/BIbby. Not sure which(probably should try to lose both) because Artest is a huge risk and has a horrible shot selection but Mike can probably get us the best deal.

lol, i was expecting these comments, but its all good.
Any chance the first deal flies though?

Garcia + KT for Theo Ratliff?

any chance of us getting Pierce without picking up any bad contracts?

"fill in the blank" + KT for "fill in the blank" = I'm down with it with few exceptions.

Taking on KT is Geoff Petrie's biggest blunder ever imho.

I think the only way we can get rid of KT is if we package him in a deal with Martin, and there's no chance in hell that's going to happen.

This was Petrie's all-emcompassing blunder...trading C-Webb for crap(no offense to Corliss, of course). Just think...Bibby, Martin, Artest, C-Webb, Miller. Perhaps we wouldn't be in need of a coach if that trade never happens. Eh, well. Just for the record, any trade to get rid of one Kenny Thomas would make me do cartwheels.
