Doug won't be starting on Mavs. Stackhouse will, if not him, Marquis Daniels, w/ Josh Howard at SF. Even if he did, I wouldn't be worried much at all, Doug is aging, and hasn't been the same since 03-04 season and prior. I don't think it's too likely he revives his old form. He can still play the point well, and get some steals though. I was talking about his play as a whole, mainly the defense.

Look at Miami overpaying Shaq for years to come and Wade leaving at contract renewal time.( If Shaq is still there) Look at the Lakers getting younger and rebuilding for more championships..check their history.
Every championship team has to rebuild at some point...of course Miami wouldn't know that and neither would you.

^^^No, I was comparing their contracts and the merits of keeping one over the other.
I'm on the side of prefering to keep Kobe rather than Shaq..if that wasn't obvious already.

I'm just guessing that this is Christie's way of trying to get back at the Kings for trading him. Dallas, once again, has way too many players and you can only play 5 at a time. Their payroll now is over 100 mill and even with Finley's contract gone for luxury tax purposes they are still going to be paying about 25 mill in luxury tax penalties........

I don't think this has anything to do with the Kings trading him. He did what was best for himself. He wasn't going to get any time on the floor here, so why even come? In Dallas he find a franchise with good fans, and a place he can get paid and still play. Its a no-brainer.

That makes zero sense whatsoever. Earlier this off-season, the Christies said they were interested most in Seattle and Sacramento. Apparently, neither of those options panned out for whatever reason. I do not blame Doug in any way, shape or form for going to a team like Dallas. He doesn't owe the Kings OR US anything, especially at the cost of not signing a contract to play for the 2005-2006 season.
Everyone keeps saying "It's just a business." Well, it IS just a business. The Kings made a business decision and traded Doug. Doug made a business decision, after a sad state of affairs at Orlando, and signed a contract with the Dallas Mavericks.
If anyone is talking about pay-backs, it's the fans. I honestly don't think the players get wrapped up in that kind of thing, especially when they're signing a contract. On the court playing against their former teams? Oh, yeah, I'm sure the adrenaline pumps a little more because they want to do good against their former team, but off the court I seriously doubt if anyone is going to make a decision about his future based on "getting back" at a former team.

I saw this pic last night and it makes me sad. One of our beloved Kings is a Mav. The only thing that made me feel better was that Doug was miserable in Orlando and hopefully he'll be happier in Dallas. I hope he gets the ovation he deserves when he comes to Arco.

Doug wants to finish his career on something other than the bitter taste the whole Orlando episode left and you can't blame him. I certainly hope the Dallas fans manage to give him a decent reception.
