Guys, through the ups and downs here we can't be firing and trading everybody everytime there's a 3 game losing streak.
Drop 5 of the next 7 heading into the All Star break and fall well out of the 8th seed contention and then you can revisit this thread for post All Star beak, same time Karl took over.

The general point would just be its just pissing in the wind for now. We've clearly got a major issue that will have to be addressed, but outside of a ****ed up mess like Phoenix I can't recall an assistant being forced upon a coach midseason, let alone in mid playoff chase.

Doug Christie is no head coach. He isnt even close. He can however make a positive impact to our defensive schemes or lack thereof.
As a defensive coordinator he'd be a fine addition, hell he doesn't need a title, being able to mentor to our back court and having the respect of Karl to do so is all that really needs to happen - be it that Karl buys into the concept himself or Vlade tells him how its going to be, we need to refocus on defense.
Teaching Trill how to hold his own out from under the basket would be a revelation.

Karl is a placeholder. I'm sure Vlade sees that. But he also knows he can't fire Karl mid-season. I strongly suspect that Vlade will fire Karl at the end of the season, unless perhaps we end up going on a tear at the end of the season and into the playoffs. Doug would be awesome as a defensive coach/mentor. But assistant coaches are hired by head coaches. So you can't force Doug on Karl or anyone else if they don't want him.
Would I take a chance on hiring Doug as the new head coach? That's the interesting question. I'm sure most around here would say that would be a terrible idea. But if we had a reliable simulation, I'd like to see how he'd do. Could he make that transition (like Kerr) or would he stumble and be yet another bad coaching choice for the Kings?

I think we'd be better served with Doug suiting up and playing perimeter defense right now than with him as a coach.

Big Nasty is has already been one of my favorite players. I'm curious as to how good a coach he might be. He's played and learned under some pretty good ones.

Hiring Doug Christie as coach would be a gutsy move. I'd be so ecstatic if it came to fruition. It seems like he really cares about the success of this team.

This is great news and (this is even hard to type without cringing but) I hope Jackie lets him. We need a fiery guy on the sidelines that players respect because they have been there and done that. I know they will respect Coach J but having a player there too is important. And yes we had Corliss and he's a great guy but to me imo he was too tame. I want to see that passion that Christie brings with everything. I'm excited!
