Douby and Petrie

#31
We had rebounding issues back then (still do). With that said, and I said it back then, we should have drafted Paul Millsap. He led the nation in rebounding THREE YEARS IN A ROW. Tough kid, and he's gotten better and better each year.

Did we need a PG? Of course. But I really wanted Petrie to take Millsap. For example, what could have been at the start of the 2007 season:

PG-Bibby
SG-Martin
SF-Artest
PF-Millsap
C-Miller

Probably wouldn't have signed Mikki Moore if we drafted Millsap.... ;)

I can only imagine the howls on this board if Petrie would have drafted an undersized power forward in '06.

I've been saying for the past year that Rondo is who he is because of who he plays with. Good player? Sure. Great player? How can we tell?

You put Douby in that lineup and his stats are inflated. I mean, seriously, you can take Carrot Top, put him in green and he would average 10 and 10 playing starting pg for Boston.

You take Rondo and make him a King in our lineup.. Not now either - his whole career, before he got to play with 3 legends. Rondo's stats would be ugly. ugly. ugly.

Rondo is better than Douby. Yes. I agree. However, he has had the opportunities, system, playing time and talent around him to develop his own talent. Douby simply has not.

I think the non-Celtics Rondo career track example is Mike Conley.

They're very similar players -- good (not great) passers, very athletic, tough defenders, can't shoot.

Conley "won" the Memphis starting point guard spot, but it's clear they don't particularly value him very much. He may still turn out to be a player in the right system, but no one is very excited about him.

I am not sure but i think rondo maybe a little bigger but i do like that comparison. Even rondo gets so many assits because he's passing to three of the best players of all time who will actually make their shots.
