Done deal?

Funny... I just opened HoopsHype website and it has Salmons to Portland with no question mark in the setence.. are they considering a done deal?

Miami and New Orleans could be discussing a trade that would send Tyson Chandler to the Heat and Shawn Marion to the Hornets, according to ESPN.com ... Steve Nash not available ... John Salmons to Portland ... Rasheed Wallace interested in joining the Spurs ... Carlos Boozer hoping to return in mid-February ...

does anyone knows more about this?

Nah. The article just says that they are looking at Salmons, and that he has a better chance of becoming a Trail Blazer than Luol Deng does.

IF you read the extended informtion and it says:

Portland is naturally making calls to see what it can fetch with its LaFrentz chip, but it appears that there's a much better chance that Kings swingman John Salmons will wind up with the Blazers -- who have inquired about Salmons -- than that Chicago's Luol Deng will.

I know, I actually read the article but I was taking another look and they added the question mark to the sentence... just sounded weird when I opened hoopshype website and saw that I was shocked

Well, I still hope for a deal b4 the trade deadline...

I wouldn't worry too much about it. If anything, blame us for not using proper grammar. I too hope something gets done soon...well, at least we only have to wait about a week!

I'm not sure why we would trade Salmons to Portland for a bag of potato chips. It would be a horrible trade. I didnt think LaFrentz was even playing in the league anymore? LOL. If we want to somehow get worse, go through with the trade. It just makes no sense to get rid of Salmons.

I have suspected, for a long time, that Salmons has serious attitude problems and is generally a toxic presence on a young team. I think reading between the lines over the past two years, he is upset that he joined a team on the edge of contention and is now part of one scraping for 18 wins.

Easy to see his frustration, but it doesn't seem professional. Get anyone here that wants to be here.

Yeah we need young talent in return for Salmons. He's salary is too low to trade him just for dumping it.

Yep yep.

It seems like a talent bleed for nothing to move a cheap player of Salmons' skill level just for an expiring.

But when factoring in his 'tude issues it may be a bit of addition through subtraction. Cisco has been producing from the bench, so we can move him up in the rotation, and then this will open up some minutes so that we can throw Greene into the fire and see what he can do.

OTOH, I think we should at least get a first rounder for Salmons. Even a late one. I'd rather it be a future pick though as this is a weak draft.

The Rasheed rumor doesn't have a question mark either.

Well, if we do end up somehow doing this trade(which I dont think will happen because when has Geoff ever leaked anything to the media)anyway, if we do pull this off, we'll in essence free up $12 million in salary for next season(which I'm not really worried about, unless we trade Brad this year too, THEN we can make THIS offseason what was supposed to be NEXT offseason)...I'd do it in a heartbeat! So many possibilities, none of us know for sure.

the problem is this years FA Market won't be as good as 2010...some superstars are going to hit the Free Agency in 2010...

ps.: Could anyone post a link to a FA List for this off-season?

This goes back to Portland having a better chance at getting John.

But this team could be greatly enhanced by a minor deal that improves the team's defense, toughness and savvy, which only a veteran can bring.

I'm just throwing those names out as examples of attainable players that could help this team in the short run. Somebody who can show what it looks like to play tough defense. Somebody to set a physical tone.

I asked Pritchard whether he felt he had constructed a roster that was good enough defensively to make the playoffs. He paused.

"It's proven out if you look at the defensive efficiency statistics that it is an area we need to improve on,'' Pritchard said. "Offensively, we are very good. Every team needs to improve. We know that's something we need to look at.''

Keep in mind that Pritchard has never done a big move at the trading deadline - all the big ones have come in the summer. He's always said he doesn't like in-season trades because it messes with the team's rhythm.

Then again, on Saturday he was also quick to point out - "You know I'm not scared to pull the trigger on a deal".

The team’s struggling with defense and John is a good one-on-one defender and he might be good at team defense if we was playing in Portland under Nate McMillan. He’s also plays for a good price.

LaFrentz & Bayless for John Salmons and somebody else (ex: Sheldon, Quincy, maybe even Mikki).

I dont konw why blazers are even looking to make deals, they have a pretty awesome young team. I wouldnt mess with it until the end of season.

They wouldn't give up Bayless for Stoudemire or Kidd. They're not giving him up for John ****ing Salmons.

Why in the world of Portland’s right mind would they trade Jerryd (a ton of upside) for a good but old player who’s going to get out of his contract in a year or two in Jason Kidd? Maybe the Mavs were dumb enough to ruin what they had in trading Devin Harris to the Nets but I don’t think that’s what the Blazers have in mind.

I guess I can say the same thing for John for Jerryd trade, but I think that trade makes more sense (at least to me). The Blazers are looking to improve their defense and John is pretty good in that department and it seems lately John is buying into the passing concept more…Either way there were articles that said that Portland was interested in John. They seem interested.

And I realize that still doesn't mean that the Blazers will give up Jerryd for John.

Yeah to add to bloom, John Salmons is a better player RIGHT NOW and in the future than Jason Kidd is. John also fits very well into their lineup while Amare wouldn't fit very well. John gives them what they need in a good perimeter defender with some experience at the SF position.
