[Rumor] Domas trade watch 2026

I’m a no on Poeltls deal.

I don’t see how we make a deal work with Toronto unless they are sending a lot of picks. Which they probably would if Poeltl is the only way to make salaries work.

In moving off Domas I’d prefer more immediate cap relief coupled with picks and prospects. RJ Barrett isn’t really who I had in mind. Solid but..just lukewarm. I think Perry really likes him though

I don’t know if it was a legit discussion or some fan thing but I saw talk about an Atlanta deal that checks more of the boxes. It was something like Zinger, Riscacher and picks. Even though I don’t think Domas really fits there and Atlanta probably wants the Zinger expiring themselves.

Why are we supposed to give up our best player for garbage? Why make a trade when we lose the trade? Toronto is going to have to give up something to get something.

I’m not the one saying a trade with Toronto is happening it’s fake Sidery. Toronto won’t pay the price needed to take on Poeltl contract and we’re not just giving him up it’s a non story

He also took less money than he could have if he waited until FA to re-sign on the basis of us being competitive and building something here. Beyond just "tanking" it's doing right by a player who signed here when we thought we were something else.

Do you think he’d rather be playing on a playoff team?

There have been reports of him wanting to “see the direction of the team”, meaning wanting to win.

Hes a vet with only so much prime left

And I’m not sure about the contract insinuation, he may have liked the guaranteed money and at that point we were a much better team

He was eligible to make more money if he waited based on years of service. But yes I think he'd rather play for a team that is winning and potentially playoff bound.

The issue is the reported teams with interest - Raptors, wizards, bulls, suns (if we believe this, seemed from a credible source)

If those reports are true, Raps may be the only team offering anything serious. Wizards are rebuilding and may be hoping for some type of lenient deal like they got with Trae. Suns have nothing….

Domas market, if looking at the reports of those teams, might not be where we want it

^^^ Actually I wouldnt say Suns have “nothing”, there are circumstances where Green, who would I’m guessing be the main piece coming back, is still young enough to bet on… just not sure he’s what you would want foundationally for Domas

Ok. And that’s not here or the direction of the team.

According to reports Vivek has allowed a rebuild, Kings are shopping all the vets not named Westbrook, and everything not nailed down will be gone after the deadline making for a youth movement with a proper eye to the top end talent of this draft and possibly future drafts

I think you are arguing my entire point?

On Sam Veccenie's draft board he has Sabonis' value as matching salary and a first. I think that is a little modest - depending on the salary coming back. But I do think the idea of a 'haul' is unlikely. He also has Anthony Davis' value as multiple firsts and a high end prospect, which I think is ridiculous. I wonder how much different agents look to affect this discourse.

We also don't have to trade Domas now. We could wait until after the draft when we know who we are getting and then trade him or not trade him.

Is this board going to explode with anger by the trade deadline? I think I would be satisfied if we moved one or more of the isolationists now. Would like them all gone but accept that is not easy.

Yeah, the idea that Anthony "Unavailable" Davis is worth multiple firsts is... staggering. The guy doesn't play. He's a gamble at this stage of his career, not a serious investment. I usually appreciate Vecenie's analysis, but I think both of these valuations are off.

Domas is the Kings' only significant trade asset, outside of Keegan Murray, whom they are very unlikely to move, and outside of their own future first rounders, which they absolutely should not move. So if they're going to trade Sabonis, they need to be aiming high. They don't need a haul, but a matching salary and a single first ain't cutting it for a center in his prime with All-NBA talent, whatever his deficiencies may be.

Matching salary is one thing but if we're taking dead weight that is its own pick. Toronto isn't getting a useful player for Poetl without compensation, let alone a Domas.
