Derrick Williams

He has been very good the last 2 games where he is getting good minutes. He is somewhat a beneficiary of us having no SGs on the team (solid ones anyway).

Keep it up DWill

Lets just play our best lineup, with our most talented players...and stop beating around the bush.

IT, Gay, Williams, Thompson, Cuz. Start and finish. With doses of Jimmer subbed for IT, but all else the same

I'm tired of MT starting. Let's be honest, he sucks. I also recommend IT, Gay, Williams, Thompson, DMC. When D-Will is out there, it is a faster pace, but it feels like a lot more energy and is a lot more fun to watch.

Has always been a bad idea. Still is. Same reason the highly successful spurs don't start ginobili and the clippers don't star Crawford.

They don't start either because they both have solid SG's and both starters are better defenders than the back up,for us it's the complete opposite.

But I think their benches are in no comparison to ours. You either rob the bench and make and improve the starting lineup, or leave things alone. I think that you can put D-will in and still leave some starters on the floor throughout the game too.

Yeah you can and that is what we have done the last two games. Leave it at that no need to start. Every time jimmer or Derrick put up some points a lot of posters here want to throw them in the starting lineup. Isaiah was insanely good off the bench and everybody wanted him in the starting lineup. Malone is doing a fantastic job the last few games in regards to bench play. Leave it be

What do you guys think D-Wills ceiling is? I think he could be have a Gerald Wallace career which would not be bad by any means. D-Will needs to be more aggressive like he was tonight instead of lobbing up 3's. He also needs to cut more to the basket like he did tonight as well. IT and co did a good job of finding him and I think Malone player a huge role in that by designing plays for D-Will for once. It's become natural for them out there. It's great to see :)

Well D-Will already has a more natural shooting stroke than Crash but that's not saying much seeing as how Wallace came into the league barely able to hit the broadside of a barn

Poor man's Shawn Marion?

He's had some pretty good coaches...there has to be some reason he hasn't been consistent. Tweeter syndrome? Maybe.

I admit I thought he was can't miss out of college. Maybe it was that NBA hotbed he came out of.:p

I'm really pulling for him, especially, since I bragged on him so much.

So far Malone is showing to be the kind of coach that can help players with whatever they need to maximize their potential. Williams was thrown a curve ball when Gay was traded for and had trouble fitting in. Now I think he is showing signs of improvement along with Jimmer. Granted this isn't a whole year's production but Williams seems to be the kind of guy you hold onto and see what comes of it.

I think he just needs to keep playing hard and not worry about position.

We do need more out of him.

He's not an all around guy like that. Hasn't shown it. I don't have a quick off the cuff comparison to make at the moment, but it wouldn't be to guys who rack up big rebounding, stealing and shot blocking numbers. DWill mostly uses his athleticism on offense.

Nope, not even close. Prime Marion (and to some extent, still today) was an elite rebounder/perimeter defender. The poster boy for a "jack of all trades" kind of guy. D-will, while can be a contributor in all facets, just isn't in the same mold

Speaking of which, does Marion have a case for HoF? or Hall of very good? His numbers are fringe worthy, but you add the defense and you can probably make a case.

I think he is a HOF without question

He might make UNLV's. Seriously I have him rated like an Elton Brand. Very good but not HOF good.

No. No HOF. At his peak he was his team's 3rd best guy, and they never got over the hump. Hall of very good though obviously.
